I don't like criticizing much but his face is out of focus... Not soft, out of focus.
It looked much better on my phone! Nope, I should have waited till I got home. I'm going through them now to see how the 58 performed first time out for me.
Note to self, do not post at a bar, with the phone, after several drinks.
i sometimes hesitate to come into this thread because people abuse this lens but that is just delightful and i think i will quite while i'm ahead. so good! thanks for sharing
This lens is just magic when it comes to portraits. Though I am still struggling with AF tune at 1.4, haven't quite figured out the right amount of correction.
I cannot live with the CA of this lens. In the field I'm wow'ed by the image this lens produces, but them I'm disapointed when I see them on the big screen and even more when they are printed. This kind of CA on a 1700$ prime? Sharpness is excellent on a D4, but when I put it on the D800E, it suddenly looks soft-ish, even after PP. The first shoot I did with this lens, I needed to redo the shots with the 58 2 weeks later because they were not good enough for the print size, both in sharpness and CA (which is visible even when "removed").
Should I go for the Sigma 50mm? Or Tamron 45?
