Kinda off thread subject but is anyone seriously considering D5/D500? I'm curious to see how well the Auto AF Fine Tune will work out in those bodies, especially with the 58.
got the 58 back from the shop. all other lenses are tack sharp on my D800 with a fresh new bayonet mount but the 58 needs some AF Fine tuning. This was manually focused until i can take care of that.
I really like this lens.
I think it would be a good stable mate for my 135 DC.
I keep telling my wife the same thing.
She will come round eventually!
I love the way this lens renders.
It's not always about overall sharpness.
Haven't shot much lately, so was excited at the opportunity to check out some of our gym athletes compete at a local CrossFit competition.
Normally for these venues - the 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 suffice nicely, however, this gym is cave buried underground with a blackhole sucking all remaining light.
So - switched up to the 58/1.4 and 85/1.4 on each D3s. Due to cramp confines...a 24/1.4 would have been handy (note to self and add to 'got to get' list)
Noticed both produced more OOF shots than normal - but chalking it up to the crappy light and inability to get solid shooting positions.
A few from a hike on New Years Day. Btw, If you ever find yourself here on Oahu, please don't hesitate to contact me for hiking suggestions. Hell, I'll even hike with you, just bring some beer!
Ok, I read all 172 pages and learned a great deal about this lens. So many fabulous photos as well.
However, the vast majority of these beautiful pics are taken in a country setting with a lot of green.
Does anyone have any urban portraits in either black and white or color? they don't have to be a f1.4 either. I'd just like to see what this bad boy can do in an urban setting, Thanks in advance.
Checkout the Photogrphylife review of 58G for portraits done in urban setting.
