Couple weeks in now. I'm more excited than ever by all the possibilities... this is the perfect lens for me!
The following image is my response to anyone who questions the AF on this lens. It has no trouble locking on at night with continuous AF on the D750.
D750 - ISO 200 - f/1.4 - 1/15
Different processing/crop for Instagram
These types of nighttime slow shutter pans are something I've been working on for awhile, but I had been using a D610 + 85 1.8G or 50 1.4G. I don't know if it's the D750 (probably) or the 58, but I'm definitely getting a higher success rate. And this is the first time I've been able to produce an image shot wide open with such a shutter drag at night.
That panning shot is wicked! I have tried doing that many times and have troubles at even 1/40th getting sharp shots. To be able to do it at 1/15th and without IBIS or VR is amazing!

just sent mine to APS and it was 156 dollars to get it fixed. surprisingly it wasn't that bad. they stated the Min focus need to be adjusted and they are fixing the softness issue but other wise nothing else damaged other than a marred plastic barrel.
i fell on the ground with mine mounted to the d800 and it took the full force of my fall. i was amazed it didn't explode into a bunch of pieces.

No way, that's dirt cheap. Mine will be bang on for a couple days, then need +15 for a while, then might behave, then will need -15.

im sure yours will be similar. ive dropped my lens completely byitself on concrete and had it roll while at a wedding. and then it took the force of my fall mounted on a camera while at another wedding. clumsy am i?

When I sent my 58 in for giggles it now needs "only" +2 on afft. Before it needs +6-8. Actually I can probably get away with 0 on my df but I can't imagine it's that perfect
Got a new toy and a new beer to celebrate. Have always had my eye on the 20mm F1.8g. Finally bit the bullet and got it delivered the other day for a timelapse/video project I'm working on. Plus, the 20mm + 58mm will be a travel combo I'm going to test out this winter. Ahh hell, anything to justify a new purchase lol.
