I know it has been discussed earlier in this thread, but I'm curious to see what fellow 58mm lunatics are shooting with these days. Weather has kept me from giving mine a workout, but that didn't stop me from completing my little bastard trinity. I think I'm done for awhile now, folks!
Tamron 15-30 2.8 (the newbie, sorry no test shots yet)
Sigma 24 1.4 Art
Nikon 58 1.4G
Nothing fancy here, just trying to prove that close focusing + wide open is not always the wisest decision when dealing our beloved 58...
The Tamron is a freaking MONSTER, but I expected no less. Still a little shocking mounting it for the first time.
Got my service repair quote back from Nikon today for my 58mm...$436!! It's a B2 repair, although the customer service person couldn't tell me what was wrong besides 'focus issues'
I'm going to try my darnedest to find my receipt or warranty card to get this covered under warranty!
Ouch...thats a bummer. Dropped mine the other day but seems to be ok. Hello everyone. New to fredmiranda and new to the 58mm 1.4g. After a few weeks of shooting with this lens, i couldn't help but want to help keep this thread going! Here are some photos from a hike with friends.

wow dude, that sucks to hear...must have been a bad one. hope you can sort it all out.
regarding what customer service knows..they really dont know anything and they just read from the website which all they have.
unless you get a real good tech on the phone at the nikon office.
Make sure you click the box "sharpen for" and then usually standard or else there will be no sharpening applied to the downsize and exported file will look soft even when it is sharp.

Wow, I had no idea of this... We truly learn something everyday.

Lol I've been doing it wrong this whole time... Thanks Corey.
Nice shot! Your welcome. Downsizing is tricky and even when you select sharpen for it still doesn't do as good of a job as if you downsample in photoshop and then apply your own sharpening. It does a good enough job though for me to not bother with photoshop anymore
Such a versatile lens. Definitely not just a portrait lens. The winter pic I uploaded was shot at 1.4. I also shot it at f8 but I liked the wide open shot more
