I am like you as well, I love this lens, and it when it hits is plenty sharp but I wasn't getting as many hit rates as I wanted. I recently got around to microadjusting this lens with all my bodies and I can tell you it made a night a day difference. It is now way more consistent. On my D810 it needed -12 and on my d750 it was the opposite and was +12. Surprisingly all my lenses needed some adjustment.
B--b-b-but it's soft, there's all kinds of chromatic aberrations, it's only sharp in certain places, you have to write a thesis to figure out how to use it, blah blah blah.

Not your typical use for the 58mm, but I just treated myself to a new toy... and it needed pics!
You kiddin'?! These are sweet! And that's a nice S4. I've owned 3 Audis before and A6 2.7T being one of them, which has the same engine as the older model S4
I will never get an Audi again in my entire life. Wife wants one but she also likes the BMW 5 Series (latest model) so I will probably end up getting her one of those next year for her birthday.
The most problemic Audi's are the 2.7 Turbo engine. I had constant issues with that stupid thing.

I had an A4. The electronics just went haywire and the computer was toast. Slightest bit of moisture in the air or heavy humidity and it wouldn't start. One day it let me sit on the highway for 3 hours because the fly-by-wire gas pedal decided not to work. Everytime I pulled codes from the ECU it'd be something new, the sensors were all fine when bench tested.
I'd even hesitate on a BMW. My grandparents got rid of their '13 535 in the fall. It burned a quart of oil every 2k miles. BMW said that's "normal for high performance engines". If you look online, it's common. The run-flats are a joke and expensive as hell. If you want conventional tires, you need new wheels. Their A/C took a crap within 3 months of owning the car; BMW made them pay for it citing a single scratch on the bottom of the bumper.
I'll stick with my plain jane Chevys that cost nothing to fix and are stupid easy to work on.
