Debating on whether or not to pair this lens with the Sigma 24mm Art or Nikon 20mm f1.8 in the future. Shooting with the 28mm now and typically wish I had something wider. I worry about the gap between the 20/24 and the 58 though, as I don't want to add a 35 because I want my bag to be light and portable when I'm out shooting. Thoughts?
My stuff doesn't compare to these bike shots at all. But I think this lens offers plenty of versatility. It just depends how you use it. For example, I use the 58 at wedding receptions every Saturday, and if the dancing is good, sometimes I grab as many as 500 shots with this lens. I'm talking about fast moving subjects in pitch black darkness and my 58 performs as well as all my other lenses. I couldn't say that for my first copy, which was unpredictable, but this new copy is more than dependable. I find the lens to be very versatile. I spend a lot of time at f4, 5.6 etc in my work, but can open up to 1.4 at any time and it's like I mounted an entirely different lens!

Indeed, I currently only have this lens, the Nikon 105 2.8 VR and the 28 1.8g, sold off my Sigma 35 1.4 and Sigma 85 1.4 for lack of use. The 58 is mounted 85% of the time
Coming to the end of my rental period. Still on the fence about this lens. In some ways its magical and others it really disappoints. I probably need more time with it, but it seems like it has very specific specialties which I am not sure I would want to shell out the kinda money this lens goes for. Seems sharp enough when it really hits, but my results were really inconsistent and I don't really have an understanding why.
Still need to try out he 85 1.4 to see where my heart lies on this lens. If this was under $1,000, like close to $600, I would be all over it. Maybe the price will come down over time in which case I would consider it.

It's a tough lens to love at first sight I had the same issue last year and I ended up selling it a month after I bought it. Then months after that, I realized how much I missed it and bought it again.
I haven't posted in several days, which is a lot for me *gasp* here's one from yesterday.
