Right, they should leave out the battery as well. Could make a killing forcing everyone to buy expensive Sony batteries.
It's stupid because it makes them look cheap and gives people something to complain about. Battery life is shit and now you have to wait hours for the camera to charge. Even if its just the first time, that immediately leaves a bad taste when you are eager to test out a new toy.
Anyway, I'll sign off now...gotta prep my chimney so I can get my lump of coal.
If you are going to continue whining about a now confirmed $8 supplemental charger then you need to drop photography and take up knitting….. (the camera comes with a USB charger if you really can't afford $8)
The people I know buying the Sony could give a rats ass about buying a supplemental charger, and would certainly be willing to pay a lot more than $8 for one. Even if Sony charged you a grand for the charger, it would still be substantially less money than Canon's high MP/DR offering, because it doesn't exist….

Hi Harry:
I'll bet the lump of coal costs more than the charger. Sorry, the devil made me do it.
In truth, I really don't care about the charger as I'm not in the market for any Sony camera.
Glenn
Glenn, I am also not in the market for a Sony camer. I am in the market for a high pixel great dynamic range landscape camera that takes my existing lens. This camera just happens to say Sony on it. Would have preferred a Canon version...but where is it...and just as importantly, how much will it cost?

Right. Canon never gives people something to complain about
And as has already been established, battery life compares well to other mirrorless cameras.
I do wish that more people were hung up on these battery issues and would stop buying so many of these cameras so I could get mine faster

I don't think this is well thought out advice. I know for a fact that many knitting kits come with cable stitch needles, stitch holders, tapestry yarn needles, 3/4 cabone rings point protectors and perhaps a knitting gauge....but they are too CHEAP to throw in the yarn!!
This poor advice may cause yet more consternation, and would surely be worth a dozen (or so) "sour grape" posts on some knitting board someplace.

BH is showing in stock for the A7 and kit options. Sounds like stores in Asia (Hong Kong for sure) have stock of both.

I've read that the preorder demand was more than twice what was expected by Sony.
Also just checked B&H and they don't have any in stock and are accepting preorders on the AR7...which is the camera that is causing the biggest stir here.

You can walk into a high street store and buy one here in the UK.
For whatever it is worth - I pre-ordered mine on the second day after the announcement and I just got an email from Adorama that mine is shipping today. Now, I need to order the Wasabi battery, which is already on my basket actually and I just have to place the order.
BTW, the A7 is readily available/in stock on Amazon now.

My A7R just arrived 30 minutes ago. My son helped me unbox it and then posed for my first test shot.
I attached the metabones v3, Canon TS-E 90mm fully tilted up and focused manually. It's very easy to manual focus with the OLED viewfinder magnified. I shot this Jpeg as I didn't have the chance to play with the menu yet.
I will be testing it with other Canon lenses and prepare a mini-review. So far I know that the L-bracket I bought works perfectly with all my lenses and the camera can be mounted/unmounted without touching the bracket.
hmm DR looks to be disappointing, the clouds have been exposed super darkly and yet I still don't see details on the surface of the sun, they are totally blown out!!!! Man, SONY better start making some better sensors soon!

I have a very little rotational play between adapter and a7r. But not transitional or shift play at all. I have such play also between my L lenses and my 1DsII anyway. Mounting the lens on adapter is very strong, I have to force to lock it.

Let me ask you about your Metabones v3 adapter.
Once mounted on the A7R, my 2 Metabones v3 adapters have noticeable play on it.
Another issue with both of my 2 copies: The adapter tripod mount is not really parallel with the camera base.

Worse yet, the pointy spikes emanating form the sun. Sony have really stuffed up big time!

Congrats Fred ! My hejnar bracket should arrive these days, will update my review with it when I got it.
Would be very interested on your review of the bracket as I'm also looking for a mounting solution with this combo especially it's ability to be used with the 24 TSE and the 85 1.2L.

I have version 3 and this particular adapter is very snug, absolutely no play between it and the lens mount, I've had 2 others (earlier versions) that were nowhere near as snug as this last one and had significant amount of play. In respect to the foot, mine is parallel, I would contact them.

How is yours?
When I went to the store to buy the metabones, there were 2 copies.[ I was trying on nex before the camera arrived] I tried the first and it was extraordniarly tight. I had to force it to go on. I then tried the 2nd and it was tight but not requireing forcing to get on. I bought the 2nd.
Anyway might point is there seems to be copy to copy variation in the manufacturing.
My current one is as tight (to body and to the adapted lens) as my eos-m mount (really good) and I am happy with it, now that I have the a7r.
I have not noticed the lack of parrell adapter base to tripod. I will check tonight.

I have two brand new metabones v3 and they are very similar.
One is a little tighter on the EF side. Both mount nicely on the E-mount but have a rotational play as KiboOst described. It's a small play similar to what I get with camera bodies anyways.
Scott/MIRANDA1: Once mounted, try rotating the adapter to see if there is a little rotational play like mine.
The parallel issue is kind of annoying but should not be any a problem when using a ball-head anyway. It's noticeable because it's not 100% parallel. (Maybe I'm too critical)
Here is a couple pictures with the Metabones adapter, L-bracket and TS-E 17 f/4L...no issues mounting/un-mounting the camera or shifting the lens.
Note: The only lens that won't work is the 85mm f/1.2L. You will need to raise the adapter for it to mount with the bracket.

Fred, looking at your last picture with the 24mm TS-E mounted vertically, does the L-bracket you have rest on the bottom of the camera? If so, does it provide some additional stability/support of the whole, you think? Thanks!
p.75 #18 · Sony A7 and A7r Full Frame with Canon Lenses
Looks good Fred on the 17 TSE, what I would really like to see is a replacement foot or spacer for the Metabones adapter that is significantly higher in profile to allow the mounting of large diameter lenses like the 85L.

Joshua,
The bracket does not touch the camera. It's stable but I wish the adapter tripod mount was a little beefier.
p.75 #20 · Sony A7 and A7r Full Frame with Canon Lenses
Fred, is there any ridge on the L-plate to lock the foot in place? The RJ adapter is nice, most well-thought piece out of any adapter, but I'm skeptical about the tolerance. And it looks cheap as well .
