The foot on the v2 does look noticeably different than the v3, at least in photos I've seen.

Yes, I contacted hejnar about that and feet specifications are the same. I just saw his site now say 'for v2 and v3'. Will let you know if it doesn't work :-/

is the A7R readily available in HongKong, any camera store, website to recommend. I may fly in to get one.
Available everywhere in HK now, simply go to those big retailer store you will get it. Suggest you go to Monkok the street next to the Lady street, you can get everything here except the Metabones III

That's interesting. It sounds like Sony has ample supply then. So, in that case the demand should be met on this side of the Pacific, too before too long.

While the 1DX obviously cant match the resolution and has very slightly less DR, it certainly doesn't lose out in IQ from these samples. Both are excellent.
I'd call it considerably less DR at ISO100 (not going by those shots though as they don't test DR)

I just tested lightroom plugin for a7r, it works nice, but no live preview. So you just gain firing from the PC and get the photo in lightroom directly. Would love a real live preview and focus functions to set focus on a better monitor. So I don't see interest for this plugin, but it works great.
I updated the review here and there, will continue to do so according to my finding.

Just get the A7R and throw your Canon lens on it. Why wait for the slow moving Canon?
What Lars said I'm more than happy with the IQ the 1DX delivers for landscapes. Without hesitation I can say I see the difference between it's files and the 5D3. It has a touch better DR, and better shadow and highlight recovery. That said having the extra couple stops of DR, even better shadow and highlight recovery and more mp from an exmor would be great. I want it in a 5D style body though. Not too much to ask surely?

By all means do, it's a fantastic city to see along the way AND from what I remember Nathan Road in Kowloon is plastered with camera shops...
Thanks, I am familiar with Hong Kong and will be a good place to make first light with this camera. I can't get the camera stores or Sony store here in Las Vegas to sell me today the A7R, they will tomorrow, but I am flying out early.

I took some family shots yestrday, I had the A7r+VM35/1.2 and 1Dx+24-70II at the same time, I took the same shot with the same setting, both are great 1Dx win the speed, A7r win the size, both have the same PQ in my mind.

+1, agreed tearfully, hard to avoid the canon/nikon/sony/etc.. conflicts so most my post are only imaging. Hope this thread will end the nonsense DR debate that last almost 7 yrs in this forum. This sony EXMOR sensor has shown another dimension in image creation, all we need is matching the lenses to make it work. I am sure canon will take us into a better path from here on.

Sold my 1DX a couple weeks ago at FM. I was going to get a 5DMK3 (since I mostly shoot landscapes) but got the Sony A7 with the kit lens this weekend. I am really impressed. So far I am missing the easy way of selecting focus points on my Canons but the continious autofocus may make up for that. I wish Canon came up with a similar sized FF very soon since would be very nice to use Canon glass in these dimensions... Good job Sony. But one thing if I must be a bit negative. 5.2 hours to charge the effin battery via USB and tcheaping out on a $15 charger?? Really Sony, are you this cheap??
