Finally I got some test shot and compare the A7r to the 1Dx. As usual, the air in Hong Kong is not clear however these kind of poor contrast can show more about the bad things
1st test I had A7r + VM35/1.2 ASPH II and 1Dx + sigma 35/1.4 mounted on a tripod at the same time, so I triggered the shutter between the two camera in a very short time, both lens shot at f/8 and I used the histogram for exposure so both cam had the same exposure. Used liveview on both cam for focusing to make sure the DOF cover properly, all ISO 100.
2nd test was having the TSE24 II mount on both lens (A7r tested first, the two photos are around 6 minutes apart), also use liveview and histogram for exposure and focusing, ISO 100
All are direct jpeg converted from raw by Lightroom

KKFung, thanks for your help. Beside the DR, two thump up for 1Dx resolution crops. As we have expected, these cams are two best for action and landscape you can have at this point

While the 1DX obviously cant match the resolution and has very slightly less DR, it certainly doesn't lose out in IQ from these samples. Both are excellent.

KiboOst,
Thanks for the review - you didn't like the battery usage that much that you listed it 3X as cons in the review .
I was about to ask for you to do some direct comparison with a Canon body, preferably with a 5D Mark III but it probably doesn't matter much anymore at this point. Mine should come sometime next week. So, I hope, at least.

Ahah yes coming from 1Ds, I ever shoot entire week with just two batteries, doing 30s and more exposures ... These A7R batteries are from another world. And the first surprise was receive it, putting the batterie, oups 10% ... check a few menus options and such and bam batterie low ! Ok, charge it ... what ?? I can't use it while charging ! huh !!
Hope you have ordered some spare batteries and the charger ;-)
I have a 5DIII at work, but am not a pixel peeper, more a print peeper (which isn't too far away lol).

Wow, I could imagine since it has an EVF that the battery would drain pretty fast but I didn't expect it would be that bad. Plus, they did not include a charger? Wow, that sucks big time . How much is the charger? $200 ?

Thanks for the review!
The battery is not fully charged when you get it. If you didn't charge it first, performance would be significantly lower.
Also, the spacer you are getting for the Metabones v3 tripod mount was designed for the Metabones v2. Are you sure it will work with it?
All the best,
Fred

Yes, I contacted hejnar about that and feet specifications are the same. I just saw his site now say 'for v2 and v3'. Will let you know if it doesn't work :-/

Thanks, Fred. I will order this set as soon as I find out that my copy is about to be shipped. Considering Amazon Prime, chances are the batteries will be delivered first anyway .

That's good to know.
I just ordered one as well since I will be mainly using TS-E lenses. Hopefully my A7R will arrive soon!
