Longtime lurker here!
Question, I've seen some photos of the a7r + metabones III + zeiss 50mm f/2 makro planar ZE in this expansive thread, but has anyone tried the zeiss 50mm f/1.4 planar ZE and/or the zeiss 135mm f/2 APO Sonnar ZE lenses on the a7r yet?
I ask because I own both canon mount zeiss 50's (MP & P) as well as the 135 APO Sonnar. The 135 is very close to the 55mm otus IQ wise from what I've read (can't recall exactly where I've read that at the moment). Having 60% of my lenses as pure MF only lenses and using katzeye optics focusing screens, I'm really interested in Sony's a7r offering.

Hello and welcome, lurker!
Head on over to the Alternative Gear part of this forum. A lot of Zeiss geekery and A7(r) drooling there.

Woot! Thank you sir! I'm going to bookmark this real quick for perusing when I get home from work. Reading forums on a small cell phone screen is no fun. :P

Misrepresentations of the prices and jaded view huh? Take a look around guy, the discounts are right on schedule, free adapters hitting the markets! Jaded view or reality?
Sweet...you can make a tidy profit buying the camera and adapter for 2k and selling them for $2300...that'll net 300 for you and save the buyer 400...win win :-)

Only if Canon don't screw up the counterpunch.
Do they even have the technology (DR) to counterpunch? Doubt it. Sure they can make a high MP body, but I doubt the sensor performance would compete. And if it does, it will be a 7K 1D brick like someone else mentioned and would be a fail…

For all that I'd kill for an A7r and selling off my canon would easily pay for it, I just can't get past the fact that my 5D3 will AF all of my lenses in under a second. I just can't see that I can get close to that with manual focus on a fast lens even with peaking. It's the only thing holding me back, I'd love to drop the sensor in the 5D3 and the weight/size. I'm a wide open shooter and shoot people. When I asked about using peaking on the NEX cameras on the ALT board the consensus was it isn't good enough for f1.4 and a slower wide will be really hard to focus with peaking.

I would guess that at least 99% of the people that is buying the Metabones EF adapter also have bought at least one Canon body
