I don't know, I think it's unfair to see that street photography does not get a lot of respect here in the People forum. I checked out that trailer, and pretty much every picture shown in there was really interesting to me. The subjects, the people, were the story.
I don't really see that in your street photography. It's like your street photography is a hybrid between people and urban landscapes, and the pictures you posted here are a really good example of that for me.
Of your pictures, No. 1 appeals to me because there's some kind of emotional reaction going on with the kid looking at the advertisement. But for the others, I don't see the stories in them that I saw with the pics from the trailer
Old man and woman kissing in a bar in a pretty tight closeup. Interesting! Are they married, or just hooking up, or what? No matter what, it sounds interesting. The couple in the back of the car, laying together. Immediately, I want to know if they're living in the car, and if so, why, and what their story is. Lady with the bandage, what happened?
Your pictures are interesting, too, but in a different way, and a way that may not generate as much interest in a People forum. I think the focus of your shots are the urban landscape, and you use light, shadows, leading lines, to drive home your subject, the urban landscape. People, to me, just happen to be in your pictures.
The woman walking by the table and three chairs. I don't have any connection with her to wonder where she's going, what she's doing. Guy in work boots and work pants carrying a board or whatever. I can't even see him, so I have no connection and I'm not interested in him personally. Woman with bulldog, the dog's resolute nature to stand there makes for an interesting picture. But if this was shot from the other direction so we could see the woman's reaction to her bulldog stopping, the human interest level in the pic would really take off, I think. Guy on the phone texting or whatever, no connection. Skateboarder in harsh direct light. I didn't even realize he was on a skateboard til I saw you mention that. Guys smoking and looking at you. Guys walking down steps, person's legs crossed.
Now, I'm not saying these pics are bad. I think the artistic elements of these shots are very interesting, but more from a urban landscape perspective. Hope you don't feel like I'm dissing you as that's not my intention. I just saw your comment about street photography not getting respected, and thought I'd offer my thoughts on it.
