does anyone know of Yakim's family, wonder if he left parents a wife, children and if at the very least there is some way to bring this thread with all of its nice comments to the family's attention. thanks joanlvh
When Yakim was a toddler, his mother passed away. He told me once that he didn't even remember her. Later on, his father re-married, but his step-mother also passed away from illness when his was a teenager. In his late twenties, just days before he got married his father passed away as well.
Since he got laid off from a prominent Cellular company 2 years ago, he was unemployed. He had two academic degrees: in Biology & Ecology. But was employed as a Statistician on Cellular Roaming Data. During the last two years, he tried to start a new career in Education.
He had a wife, Nurith, and 3 children which he loved dearly. Through many of his posts you could read the somewhat humoristic line: "It's either lenses or the kids".

Roli, do you know if the family is well taken care of now, or are they still in need?
As far as I know, there definitely were some financial issues 2 years ago, but I have no further details. As mentioned before, for more details & circumstances, maybe that close family friend phone is willing & posted in that d-spot forum link at the start of this thread - Judith, (+972) 50 866-2768

Fred, that last post was at the same day of his passing. As a matter of fact - hours.
We were friends. He was a very kind fine man. Great loss. If you look further down that thread, you'll see some PICs of him somewhere around the 2006's in my house (trying a lens ...).
So surreal, not a hint of his state of mind. I did not know him, but hearing of suicide always makes me extra sad as the pain he must've felt is unimaginable.
One can only hope that for each that pass this way, more attention is drawn to the issues that causes this so that it can be prevented the next time.
Please extend all our sympathies to his family and friends if it is possible.

I can't know - and probably no one can know - what Yakim was going through. What I do know, having lived with family members and friends who suffer from depression and mental illness, is that their "reality" is not the same as someone who does not suffer from such a condition. Rationale thought and logic is not something they are capable of in such a state.
Anger is a normal reaction by those close to such people due to the lack of understanding of what such a person is going through...and how/ why they act as they do.

I've been away from this forum for many weeks and have just returned to see this unexpected shocking news. I obviously can't know anything about what led up to this tragic event but, as someone who has suffered from and been treated for clinical depression (a far more common condition than most people want to acknowledge) I feel so sad that no one was able to reach out to him and help - although I'm sure so many of his family and friends must have tried.
Each time you take a shot that pleases you remember who it was that reminded us to all be happy shooting.
