Terrible news... I'm shocked...
Yakim was a great contributor and despite I never met him in person or talked to him directly, it was easy to see the nice and gentle soul behind his words...

I'm so sad that Yakim chose to leave us. My sincere condolences to his family. I always enjoyed his insightful posts, he appeared very knowledgeable and positive by nature. It's amazing how forums like this bring you closer to people you've never met, all over the word, based on a shared passion or interest. Rest in peace, Yakim.

Surprising and sad news.
I’ll remember his happier side, such as his scoffing eleven Naga King Chillies to beat all comers in this competition. I believe that’s him in the fuchsia top, in the lower photo.

With all the disagreements, debates and different points of view on these forums, Yakim accomplished a 13 (so far) page thread where everyone is in agreement.
Puts things in perspective.

Very sad news. I always enjoyed reading Yakim's posts. What a terrible loss for his family and friends and for us and the other forums he participated in.
His insight and knowledge and friendly amiable manner will be missed.
May his family and close friends be comforted knowing he made a difference in this world.

I am thinking that I would like to do something for his family. Having my own little family, I cannot imagine how they would cope if one parent was suddenly gone, and having a financial problem on top of this would be unimaginably horrible. Yakim's contributions and presence over the years has been worth something to me, and I am thinking that perhaps we could do a collection and send it to his family. I would call them first and see if this is needed, of course.
If needed or helpful, who would be with me in sending me a suggested $20 to the family, or any other amount that you choose? Please post it here so everyone can see it, to raise awareness, and also PM me your email address and I will get a mailing list going if enough people join for it to be a meaningful amount.
Carsten is refering to an initiative to make donations to Yakim's family, in his memory.
I support this and encourage you to send your email address to Carsten via PM. He has offered to collate contacts and let people know if and how this might work out.

Wonderful idea Carsten. PM sent.
Not to make light, but I think of all the times my wife has said "Are you on that damn forum again?" I'd like the family to know that even though most of us never met Yakeem in person, we were his friends and cared.

Jim, I will call and see if the friend speaks English. If not, I have some friends who speak Hebrew, I am pretty sure.
In hindsight, if you would like to be part of this without posting so here, pseudo-anonymous, that is fine, PM me anyway.
I have no experience in doing something like this, but am willing to do all the legwork, or most of it. However, I would like to have someone who can back me up and check my work and can assure everyone that I actually did transfer all the money to the family, to ease people's minds. Could someone volunteer? We can figure out the details of how we do that later, or perhaps someone has a suggestion?
