Thank you, Terry, I hope to be posting Bushwhacker pictures a fair bit because I get lottsa lucky shots.
John, I have ordered the Kirk monopod head, knowing full well that RRS MH-01 is probably a standard of sorts, but I wanted to give Kirk product a chance.....at least on the face value of it, their head should work well too.
We shall see. If it doesn't work very well, then I'll get the MH-01.

Wow: Birds, sunshine, butterflies and flowers. It's going to be a couple of months before i can join this thread with 2013 pictures i think. This one from June 2011 should give an idea when spring comes up here - 5D / 70-200mm f/2.8:

All the ducks do here on the canal is float around eating bread and getting fat.... until I turn around then they're all flying off all over the place! It's a conspiracy!!!

The Long tail ducks have begun a spring colouring metamorphosis. The females are rather ungainly looking, (from our perspective, that is), all year around. However, the drakes turn largely brown.

Wow...love that shot Peter, and the ones you just posted; quite a story there...
Jefferson: Nice shooting; my last shots of Camaro's on a track were at Riverside (CA), during the "Race of Champions. A.J. Foyt & Emerson Fitipaldi were the stars, way back in 1975...
The thread is looking great....thank you all for your contributions.

Panning wasn't easy!
It's amazing how great Canon's older cameras are in the hands of good photographers. Well-done pictures like yours will bring back memories years from now.

I have been doing some tests of my new Kirk monopod head tonight......it sure helps to be able to tilt the camera/lens up when you have a target perched 60 ft off the ground. At the same time,
those types of heads are a bit scary to use too......almost feels like an accident waiting to happen.
