Yosemite, exotic butterflies, migratory hawks, wow! All I got to do today was take a walk around the neighborhood, but warm weather is here now. I carried the 5D II/100L macro along with the dog leash, and found some budding things that I thought said "spring". It was interesting (to me) to compare the way I tended to see things with the macro in my hand as opposed to the zoom + tube that I carried a couple of days ago. All rather pedestrian subjects, within easy reach of a pedestrian photographer.

Thanks for the kind words, Peter...
As I work through the weekend's photos, these are a couple of favorites so far, both from 200 1.8...

Jerry, that bird house is wonderful; I love that waning light...

Here outside Boston, signs of spring have been few and far between. However, the bluebirds returning to the nest in my backyard is always going to brighten my mood.

Thank you, Terry, glad you like that stuff.
BTW, that flower is something else.......very sharp in the center and soft petals around....a thing of beauty.
Here's something else from today: "The nest builder".....handheld 1DX + 800L, no baiting.
(Those guys are tiring me real good.......shooting handheld 800L or 600 II + 1.4xTC at a major angle upwards, waiting for an unobstructed shot in a thick scrub/bush is getting to be a bit too much for this old boy. Thankfully, my tilt monopod head should be delivered tomorrow.)

Wow! I just love the eyes. You really have a special talent. I am glad to hear you are saving your shoulder! Yet I too like to angle, tilt my camera and control background with the available light. I find it hard to get that with a tripod! Monopod. I hope you find good luck with the "tilt"! Keep us all posted please.
The fields of flowers were so windy today! Was not an easy task.
