yeah, i couldn't find a way to boost the contrast/blacks in b&w without destroying the mist effect. the best way i found was to deepen colors, but i wasn't really happy with how that looked.
i really like your last shot. i think the eyes closed look is beneficial, gives her a more meditative look.
fantastic shots!
my parents were in the area today, and called to tell me how beautiful it was.
also, when you do want shallow dof at f/2 you can put the subject absolutely anywhere in the frame and expect it to be crisp and contrasty, which isn't really the case with the x100s. in low light you can totally take landscape shots at f/2 with the rx1 as well.
more than anything though, the look at f/2 is very different from the x100 lens. the x100 has more of a classic lower contrast with slightly funky bokeh look while the rx1 crisp and contrasty with a shockingly smooth bokeh.

I was just catching up, nice shots everyone!
I quoted this specifically because it' shows what is so amazing. Most lenses have to be faster to get a good pop...f2 is perfect on this lens. Honestly it spanks the 5d/35L for my taste at f2.
The micro contrast is outstanding and the sheer clarity of the lens is fantastic. I've never shot with anything producing nicer results that wasn't made by Leica and 5x the price. For the quality though. 2 grand a lens and 3500 for a body interchangeable. 3 prime kit just under $10k...

Three shots from this past weekend.
The first shot was taken right before a rain shower in the late afternoon. 1/600 F/4.6 ISO 100
This is the same general area early in the morning. 1/250 F/9 ISO 100
RX1 shoots duck! There is nothing special about this shot aside from the fact that the duck patiently waited for me to take a picture. This is a quarter frame crop. 1/80 F/5.6 ISO 500

sebboh, really like the mood and overall look in your photos.
alkanphel, very nice, especially the first one! Well composed and great colors and textures.
Joan, I like that one. Can't really explain why, but I think it has to do with the two TV screens blaring in the background and no one is there looking.
Yesterday I got back from a trip to Oslo (capital of Norway.). In about ten days we're off to Sweden for a week. Pheew. I'll try and post some shots from Oslo soon and I have some more from the trip up north too.

Thanks Helena & Bob!
ebookman: Love your 2nd photo, it's very serene and wistful.
Bob: I like your first image, the golden light reflecting off the buildings makes the scene look so surreal.

This shot is way outside of my comfort zone. I am not really sure how best to PP a noisy shot like this. The inside lights were actually too bright and I had to shoot at -1 EV for the interior light and 1/80 at F4 with an ISO of 2500. 2500 ISO! -- never been there before. A longer exposure would have helped but I had no tripod and I was standing in the middle of the street. I would welcome advice.

For PP I would first clip the blacks (raise the black level) to both eliminate the ambient night noise and increase the contrast. Depending on how the shadows look after that you might also nudge the shadow tint a bit toward green to remove the magenta shadow cast.

A bunch from my recent trip to Oslo (more to come). I have been there before, so I wasn't very interested in the tourist sites and instead concentrated on things we don't have much of here in Trondheim, such as urban decay, colorful immigrants etc..
