Thanks all! And h00ligan, if "mc" means micro contrast, I do use step sharpening. I find it necessary with any camera to keep the right look when downscaling.

Helena, nice set! I like the last.shot the best with the nice sunlight and bokeh.
@Philippe, Thanks! Hope you get an opportunity to.shoot with this camera some more soon!

Ok...I have to say, while I still think the camera is overpriced for a fixed lens machine...you can't argue with the output. The rendering in these images is downright stellar. That lens has got beautiful crispness with fantastic rolloff into out of focus areas, and the tonality that the camera is showing is just wonderful. Here's hoping it drops to a more in-reach price sometime in the next couple years.

Oh, you got one too Helena. Makes very much sense given what you've done with the CZ & L 35's. Super nice suite, most tasteful! The last one tops it for me.

As to the close-up performance, I totally agree, it has that Zeiss magic. Further away, I am still unconvinced. It seems stellar to about 5m or so, there are still traces of magic until 10m maybe, and beyond that it is just a normal sharp lens.

I don't know, Carsten. I wouldn't say "normal" sharp lens. It's tough to say without being able to see the files in full resolution, but the impression I get in looking at, say, Helena's lone tree shots, is the same impression I get when I look at shots from my Elmarit-M 24 and NEX-7 at this size, and that is that there's loads of fine going to waste there. I'm betting that, in a large print comparison, the differences between this and "normal" sharp lenses would be more readily apparent.

Thanks everyone (especially Wilhelm)! Yes, I couldn't resist and bought one a few days ago. I have dreamed of something like this for years. Assuming I keep RX1 I'll sell ZE 35/1.4 (and a couple of other lenses) after the holidays, but some others are having problems with theirs so right now I'm undecided.
Carsten, I agree that the lens loses some of its "specialness" at longer distances, but I think it's still quite nice. When I go out especially to take landscape photos I'll probably bring my Canon gear, but if I'm out with RX1 and come across a nice view I think that that'll work too. I'm having some issues with daylight WB though, and need to solve that. Others seem to do fine, so hopefully I'll figure it out eventually.

Nice set Helena.
I don't understand your doubt. Who cares if other people have a faulty copy (sorry guys he he) when the one you own yourself is perfect? You should be happy. You say it's your dream camera and it's working perfectly...

Thank you Sebboh! Yes, I used a polarizer and then I played with it in Lightroom. It seems like it's easier to over-do effects in LR4 compared to 3.6 (which I have used up to now), so I'm not completely happy with the post-processing in some of these. It'll get better once I get used to it. I really like what they have done to the program.
Btw. I see also that it may be unwise to use a polarizer this time of year when sun is so low, because it can make part of the sky much darker than the rest (the photo of the house for example).
Also I have noticed that JPG artifacts show up more often now (house and smokestack) than before. I don't know what is causing that; more megapixels (5D's 12 vs. RX1's 24), Lightroom 3.6 vs. 4.3, or if it's somehow related to the Sony files themselves? It does help to set JPG quality to 100% (I only needed 85% with 5D), so my theory is that the higher resolution is the cause..?
Thanks Jochen! Yes, you're right. He he. Just before that I did post that I was leaning towards keeping it (for the reasons you bring up). I just added the undecided part as a "disclaimer" in case I change my mind.
This camera is very inspiring to use. Hope more people will add photos soon, because I have several more I'd like to post, but don't want to spam the thread. I have neglected Flickr lately though and can put them there instead.

Helena, your photos are very beautiful! the IQ of the camera left nothing to be desired. Assume they are sharp as shown here web sized picture. but the Bokeh of it just beautiful!
Yes, for 35mm guys want FF look at f2 working aperture, what else you need?
Though, TBH, without on board EVF is still huge deal breaker to me
