Got another Rx1. I have tried every conceivable option within my reach, and nothing beats the Sonnar for me, let alone the size and IQ.

Lovely shot
Thanks Ronny
Sadly, I got my rx1 2 days ago, and dropped it last night and now it says "error 61" and doesn't work. I tried banging it a little and starting it with the cap on facing downward and applying pressure, but no luck.
Anyone have an experience with this, or sending an rx1 to get fixed?

Not sure if the II does the same, but question for RX1 users. This has been bothering me for years, but not to the degree of finding out why.
When taking a picture, mainly one that requires a lot of dynamic range, the LCD shows the preview image. After taking the shot it displays an image with much brighter shadow area. That winds up being the final image.
My question is that...isn't menu function 'Live View Display' supposed to show the end result during LCD preview of the image before taking the shot?

I noticed the same behavior even with 'set effect on' set. The final image is different than LCD preview. I would expect version 2 or A7RII will improve this.

I do ... see this thread, in particular, Post No. 19.

I have noticed more than one person in the last ten pages, or so, (people who are using the RX1Rii now, but have owned the RX1, saying that in some ways they preferred the files from the RX1, but they didn't elaborate on exactly what those ways were. I would appreciate hearing what exactly it was about the files from the RX1 that they preferred over the files from the RX1Rii.
My reason for asking is that I had, and loved, an RX1 until it was stolen a year ago. I have never replaced it, thinking I might get the RX1Rii instead, but not sure if I might just-also-be happier with the files from the RX1.
I understand all the usability changes which come with the newer body (AF speed, EVF, Resolution, etc). Putting all those aside, and assuming I am not someone who would ever print larger than 10x16, Would I be getting richer, more malleable, files from the RX1 than the RX1Rii? That was what I loved about my RX1, there was just so much in the RAW files that you could do a lot with them without them falling apart.
Does the difference between the two cameras come down to pixel size and DR, or does the fact that the sensor in the RX1Rii is newer tech offset the disadvantages of smaller pixels? (For what it is worth, I clearly preferred the files from the RX1 to those from the RX1R (first version).

In case he doesn't see this, Charles is a great forum member and always pretty willing to answer questions. He's owned both and I think he'd be able to articulate the differences pretty well. Might want to contact him.

Poor Miss Abby...
This morning, I took her hiking in the real desert for the first time since I rescued her nearly two years ago. Of course, she soon got a cactus tine in her paw and while I should have tended to her immediately, I couldn't resist taking this photo first:
RX1 with a touch of fill-flash (which is why I can never replace it with an RX1RII, no matter how much I would like to do so.)
