Amazing shots, Joe. Those milky way shots in particular are complete stunners. I hope to get a chance to visit Big Island at some point. In the meantime, here are some shots from another corner of your backyard. I was on Oahu for a very short trip and brought my new to me rx1rii.
Thanks Chris. Cool shots. If you enjoyed Oahu, you'll absolutely love the Big Island. Green sand beach, 13,000ft peaks, cool birds, active lava and on and on. I always carry the Sony with me. A superb little camera.

Thanks, Joe. Big Island is definitely very high up on the list of places I'd like to visit. Your milky way shots only increased my desire to try and take night sky pictures from the peak of Mauna Kea at some point.
I'll admit that initially I had buyers remorse and wasn't sure whether the rx1rii was worth the cost over the 35 1.4, but by now I've come to appreciate the fact that there is another camera attached to that Sonnar 35, meaning I don't have to change lenses in the field as often anymore.

Nice Beatles shot skid_row and your images always rock Werner.
Here's a little girl collecting seashells in b&w.
Nice to have the tilting screen on the Sony Rx1rII.

I haven’t posted here for a while. Summer is the off-season for us and it’s hard to get inspired. Here are a few recent uninspired efforts with the little RX1r II. The river in mid-July:
A grey wolf. I enjoy observing them because they exhibit the classic pack behaviors that I use as a basis for dog training. Some modern, politically correct trainers have written books denouncing this theory, but all one needs to do is watch some wolves interact to understand how wrong they are.
There are now abundant wildflowers in the uplands. In a few months this will be prime pheasant cover.
A few hobby farmers around here keep buffalo for reasons that totally escape me. They certainly are not pets. They are a ton of work; they can be very nasty; and sometimes they simply walk right through a normal electric or barbed wire fence without seeming to notice the fence. The dogs and I make a point of staying out of fields with buffalo. They do look cool, though.
A couple small, harmless lizards that looked to me like fearsome dragons to the macro setting on the RX1r II:
Chase and Joy in the old truck ready to take a good run.
The ruins of a log house the dogs and I discovered on a long exercise run way back in the mountains. These places are evocative to me. Why would someone build their home deep in rugged mountains in the middle of nowhere? Did they find their dream, whatever it was? Why did they leave and abandon their home?
Covered bridges and old mills are pretty common sights here in PA Dutch (Pennsylvania German) country and Kutz is a common PA Dutch name. Anyone with a PA Dutch background pronounces “Kutz” as “Khootz.” I am greatly amused when I hear tourists and other non-Pa Dutch people pronouncing the word as “Cuts”. That word in PA Dutch means “to vomit”. So we have Kutz Mill, Kutztown, etc – Vomit Mill and Vomittown.
Thanks for lookin’ and for letting me see your really great images. I guess I’ve bored you all enough for now.

Birddogman - Fantastic shots, but I am more impressed with your training philosophy - I am a huge fan of Cesar Milan. Good for you. I once I looked at Cesar's FB page and couldn't believe the messages Caesar was getting from "THOSE" people.

What an amazing series of images. I just purchased a used rx1. I took some close up photos in my kitchen just to get familiar with settings and learning the behavior of the camera. What everyone is saying about the camera is all true. It really is a awsome image making machine. Some say sensor is a same as Nikon D600 but when i was comparing in light room with similar images with 35mm that i took with D600. Seems like Rx1 raw file has different feels to it. It might be the lens but it just easier to work with. There some area that i need to get use to but the images that it can create. I believe it's worth learning and get use to. I'm a fan of 35 focal length so rx1 fits perfectly. Love the images guys.
Thanks

Birddogman, i went to Lehigh and have been to Kutztown once to Kutztown State U. Did not get to see much of the beautiful countryside there. Shot a lot of B&W in the city of Bethlehem though.
