Guy,
I do use rubber bands on my MF lenses for the A7 series camera. In a few cases, I even put rubber band on the zoom ring. But the aperture ring of this camera is on the small side in both diameter and thickness. Hmm, but you brought an idea to me; maybe a smallish zip tie around the aperture ring will do trick. We can put the "knot" on the left hand area at 9 o'clock if you are holding the camera. You can just use your thumb of the left hand to nudge it up or down to change the setting. Kind of like the idea of a few Leica-M lenses for the focusing ring but in this case, it is more for aperture, which you don't do too often. What do you think?...Show more →
Another option is to take the camera to a hardware or auto parts store and find an O-ring (or two) that fits over the aperture ring.

I think if you can find one of those thin focusing rings they sell mainly for Leica cams it maybe worth a try. Can't cost that much.
Btw I put silver buttons on all the main control buttons so they stick out further. Works grreat

I'm driving across country next week in a Penske 16 ft truck to NY. I'm taking the RX2 and 21 converter in the cab with me the rest locked away. Lol I need to go shoot this damn thing. You guys have some great images posted. I'm inspired

I made the mistake of selling the original RX1 last year, and picked up the new model in its stead. This camera and me just get along real nice.
Very nice, if I may offer one comment I think cloning out the little white streak (airplane?) from near the top edge would improve the overall shot by removing a distracting element.

Had a little bit of time this evening to take a walk with the new-to-me RX1. Wanted to see how it did hand-held in low light after some processing. Not bad at all, though my E-M5II and 15/1.7 would have done better on account of about 4 stops of IBIS vs. just two stops of sensor size. And worse than that when DoF was an issue. But that really wasn't the point of this, I'd use a tripod if noise was a real concern.
Anywho, nothing special but trying high DR stuff at higher ISOs.

Been shooting the Milky Way lately but I always have the Sony Rx1rm2 next to me for quick shots.
Here are a few from the summit of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii prior to my shoot.
My first time visiting and absolutely loved seeing these world class observatories (e.g. Keck, Subaru, etc.).
FYI here is link with a few of my Milky Way photos: Milky Way

Amazing shots, Joe. Those milky way shots in particular are complete stunners. I hope to get a chance to visit Big Island at some point. In the meantime, here are some shots from another corner of your backyard. I was on Oahu for a very short trip and brought my new to me rx1rii.
