The images I see here are truly inspiring. Thank you all for posting!
Here are a few recent efforts. My elderly buddy, Chase, was on fire this day - pointing what turned out to be a quail:

Then, retrieving that bird:

Joy pointing on posted property, just on the wrong side of the property line. She wouldn't break point when I called her (she is trained to never break point), so I had to prop my gun against the tree, walk over on to the posted land and carry her back to our side of the line.

We've been bumping into quail lately, which are perfect quarry for the tiny 1940's vintage .410:. Gold quail - meet real quail:

Someone painted an American flag on an old chunk of corrugated iron using the wrong kind of paint, which faded and ran. It was tacked on the weathered door to an 18th Century spring house.

I had the honor of helping a friend take his 14 week old English setter puppy, Drummer, out for his very first time working birds. Drummer (named for the drumming ruffed grouse do on hollow logs in the spring) did well and is a complete cuddle puppy as well as a hunter. A puppy point:

Chase did the retrieving for us. Not knowing better, Drummer dashed up to Chase and tried to snatch the bird away from him about a half-second after this photo was taken:

Chase, who is the ultimate gentle soul, didn't like that one bit and, to my horror, put the puppy down hard. Chase was severely chastised and spent the rest of the day locked in the Jeep, watching the rest of us out the window. It didn't happen again.
This morning, as we were heading out, we looked out from the mountain where I live and found that the entire valley below (where the family farms and many of the other places we hunt are located) solidly filled with roiling fog, but the skies at the higher elevations were crystalline all the way to the famous Pennsylvania Blue Mountains miles in the distance. Pretty cool!

Joy's point being honored by her BFF, a setter named Ti:

This day, instead of hunting, we took a run to the pretty little mountain lake near my house - now finally free of ice. We often go there in the warm weather because it is spring-fed and the water is always cold.

Joy pointing for the little scale-built 28 gauge sidelock:

Chase retrieving a quail taken with the little gun:

Pheasants and quail fell to the 28 gauge this day:

Puppy Drummer giving us a stylish point yesterday - photographed from the business end. This is a Fuji XT1 image. Even though the Fuji only has 16MP, as compared with the RX1rII's amazing 42MP, it is capable of producing some nice images and its interchangeable lenses give it much more versatility - such as the ability to get "in front" of a point like this without getting so close that the bird will flush.

Hunting ends for us on March 30 - only a couple more days, then we must attempt to stay in good physical condition and trained during the long, hot, boring summer months, until September 1 rolls around and life can begin again.
