Is it just me or are there a disproportionate number of talented photographers who own this little full frame Sony.
Certainly agree on the talented photographers part, but I think its no more disproportionate than any other high end piece of photographic equipment. In fact, I bet its far less than gear like a proper RF, large format 4x5 etc. Stuff that one would only shoot if one has a certain degree of hard core enthusiasm for the craft.
RX1/2 certainly is a camera that one could use to just to take crappy snapshots, just as much as any P&S costing 1/10th the price, BUT, I don't think too many "happy snappers", have any desire to spend $3300 for a camera.
Its just like a majority of guitar players with a $10K Gibson R8 Les Paul have pretty good chops. Doesn't mean an expensive guitar is a shortcut for talent, its not, but generally if one only knows how to butcher 3 chords its far more likely to see them owning a $400 Epiphone.
I will add though, that I'm sure the amazingly talented photographers, like yourself, certainly show off the camera well, and perhaps some give too much undue credit to the camera.
Some may think that the reason your photos posted from it are amazing is because of the camera, and if they buy the same camera, they will produce the same jaw dropping stuff.
Been there, done that, not true.
I've owned a lot of the same gear as you and my shots never come close to what you produce. I don't have the same eye, and Ohio doesn't have any beaches! lol

Very solid analysis and I can't disagree with your points. However, I will say that if you place Ohio in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, somewhat near the equator, I guarantee your photographic eye will improve.

I would add that your approach to subject matter will change as well - having lived for long periods in the South, California, and New England.

Again, love the photos posted in this thread.
Here are a couple from yesterday.
Tight space and couldn't get the right angle with my Nikon D810.
So in comes the Sony.
The intent was to do black and white, super high contrast shots.
Instead, played around in post and adjusted color as requested.
Later today, will try the Sony and high speed sync.
Should be interesting.

I've been lurking this thread ever since I got my RX1R (it's been about 1.5 years now)
and I've finally decided to post some of my own photos.
I've never embedded images in a forum before so I hope I'm doing this the right way!
Constructive criticism is also appreciated!

Been using Rx1r2 non stop since it came out. Loving it really. Has its own shortcomings but the pros outweighs the cons, for me. Here are some black and whites!
Great pictures, here and on your Flickr. May I ask, what kind of shortcomings have you found?
