Thank you very much Joe, Morty and Jochen! I'm fortunate to have a couple of nice locations just a 15 minute walk from home, which makes it easy to take advantage of "good light opportunities" (second shot is from there).
Jochen, nice shot of your dog. Yes, isn't it sharp? What amazes me the most is that it's relatively sharp wide open even at things quite far away. And while it's not quite as good as ZE 35/1.4 for landscapes it's more than good enough for me and so much smaller and lighter...

Thank you Charles, Helena, and Joe!
Helena, very nice light and shadows and lines in the 2nd shot! I am jealous of your low angled (hovering near the horizon) sunlight that you have up there this time of year which is perfect for landscape photography but not the cold temperatures. I like the light better in your summertime shot of those gorgeous waterfalls.
Jochen, congrats on your new RX1 and nice shot of your dog. Missing my black lab a lot.

Thank you Charles and Wayne! I agree that the light is better in the summer version, but unfortunately the sun is behind the mountain all winter keeping the falls in the shadow. I used split toning to try and make it a little more interesting, but feel that I don't do it justice. Anyway, I'm glad to have a photo of the frozen falls at all, because it is a very rare sight (normally they'd be covered in snow) and may not happen again for many years. When I get more experienced maybe I can try processing it again.
I love this camera more the more I use it, but hesitate to post when it's so quiet in here. Hope more will post soon. Anyway, here are a couple of low sun mid-day photos:
Our master bath flooded so the room was a mess but it was the only place to try sole off cam lighting. I just cant see manual off camera flash being workable…. and sony doesn't have one yet that does automated do they?
its a real shame that bounce is not present…
this was manual with one ceiling fan light to the right and a 430 ex ii set to minimum output on the left ….which was basically pitch black… modified with a lamp shade i had nearby

Helena - that does it. So many good shots here, and then that frozen waterfall and the sun, the tree and the road. A wonderful set of images. Of course it's the photographer and the camera is secondary, but I can see why you like it so much.
Charles, I have been following your images. Wonderful stuff. I am looking down from Tugun hill on the places you have shown so beautifully. If you see a bloke and a little blonde with backpacks scuttling along, say hello. We are practising for the Camino this April. The biggest question in my mind is whether to take the RX1, the X100s, the M4 or the IIIf.
You are all making it a very hard decision. But I guess it has to be digital.
Keep the RX1 images coming.

Sony most certainly does have wireless TTL capability, in fact the technology originated in the Alpha system back in 1993 on the Maxxum 7xi. The RX1 should support wireless TTL but probably requires a controller on the camera rather than controlling via the pop-up, the manual is frustratingly non-specific about wireless mode.

Edward, nice test shot with flash.
Helena, another excellent set. Please keep sharing.
RX1 doesn't seem to be as popular with the folks here at FM Alternative forum, at least for now? I'm using my RX1 mostly for family snap shots which is why I have not posted more pics. I haven't really had a chance to shoot the camera much but even with macro shots of my kids toys, I'm really enjoying the file quality
These are the type of shots I've been using the RX1 for, I don't think many FM'ers would appreciate if I posted more But this is just what I wanted in the RX1, a good low light point and shoot full frame camera with files that can blend in with my other cameras. I'm still waiting for my EVF, still on backorder here in the US.

Thank you very much Jochen, Seth Lord and Joe!
Joe, it's great that it works out for you and I would mind seeing more. Before Christmas I was somewhat worried that AF would be too slow for photos of the family in low light, but it went very well. I didn't try to capture the kids running around though, but my 5D would also have problems with that.
OK, another shot from my (almost) daily walks. I added some vignetting, but perhaps it would have been better without it:

Great depth in this last shot Helena! Like the repeating lines in the field and the clouds. Very nice!
Joe , nice shots of the kids art work and school events.
Yes, I know what you mean as I too have taken a lot of friends and family shots with this camera which I can't post. Keep posting! Hope you get your EVF soon.
I hope to get some time to shoot this weekend.
