Although I've been generally happy with the RX1's performance with short "long" exposure photos -- say, under 30 seconds -- in connection with a long-term project photographing my neighborhood at night, I've recently tried using it in bulb mode for much longer exposures (1'45" in the case of the photo posted below) and have been somewhat disappointed by the results; in particular, its limited exposure latitude and loss of contrast. (In other photos, but not so much this one, slight amounts of banding are visible in the sky areas as well.)
My A7R performs noticeably better under these circumstances, so I understand that I'm probably pushing up against the RX1's limits and likely need to adjust my expectations accordingly, but I guess what I'm really curious about is whether my results are typical or if the particular camera I'm using isn't performing up to spec for some reason ... thoughts, anyone?

I never shot the RX1 on anything particularly long in terms of exposure time, maybe 10seconds max and without tripod. But camera shake aside, I admit that the results weren't the prettiest (the images felt a bit too flat even if the iso wasn't pushed too high, colours a bit off). I don't have the camera any more to confirm my longer exposure experiences so just here to chime in a little. I shot on JPEG fine.

I doubt many have tried a 1 hour 45 minute long exposure so probably hard to get much feedback on what is "typical". I honestly didn't think the battery would even last that long lol
I've done exposures of several minutes though and never noticed any real issues with contrast or DR, assuming I was sticking with a low ISO
Any scene that you can shoot for over an hour exposure is probably pretty low contrast to begin with too, so that could be a bit of an issue at play.

That should be read as one minute, 45 seconds, so it wasn't all that long...

This was taken at ISO 100 and I haven't had any real issues with my A7R at these exposure lengths, so I know that Sony generally knows how to make cameras work well at this exposure length.
