I'am a bit worried about the R model (in this weekend I watch images like a maniac and compare Rx1 vs R .. and I'am a bit worried that the R version is not right for me ? )
sharper images can be useful in some cases
What I like about Rx1 is the great rendering style (a little soft)
the colors and great bokeh ..great rendring on rocks and mountains, etc .. this I see in Rx1 images .. actually when I look at landscape pictures it looks different with the R-version
not the same soft rendering style ..or maybe I imagining that ? .. they are sharper ( some anyway), but I don't see the same gentle rendering style...

Ronny -
I have gone back a forth on this issue myself.
I enjoy the RX1 so much that I have thought about selling it and getting the r.
A couple of points:
The first is that there is little difference in the raws. The big difference is in the JPEGs which are substantially crisper.
I shoot Raw + JPEG so that appeals to me.
The second thing to note is that the "classic" has a weak AA so you will get moire on occasion with it. That's why there is little difference in acuity in most cases.
I have a number of online friends that have owned both and there was some opinion that the "classic" had somewhat "sweeter" images.
I think it is a matter of taste and nothing more. I am happy to send you raws if you would like.
As you know - it is easy to soften an image but impossible to add detail that is not there. I think the r is a good choice.

First, congratulation for your new camera.
As mentioned in our PM conversation, The reason I recommend RX1 over Rx1R is simply I feel nothing short for RX1 in term of sharpness and also for the cheaper price. You should be able to get wonderful images with Both.

Out for dinner last night in New York's West Village. I used to carry my RX100 for this sort of evening excursion but I became so spoiled by all the FF goodness in such a small package that the RX1 is now my default (even thuogh it means I must carry a small shoulder bag).

Thanks Michael and David
I hope it will be good ..
Also wrote to Derek before ..he has the same opinion as you, Michael
I bought R instead of the classic therefore I got hold of one (it's not new) from the store with 1 year warranty..I got to give a little more money but I found that warranty is good to have
Otherwise, I would have buy the cheapest I found on the used market that was in good condition
the R or the classic
I hope I get it today .. can hardly wait

Ronny, if you don't apply any pre-sharpness to images with the RX1R I guess the result is very similar to what you get with the RX1. But you can run into trouble on Flickr because additional sharpening is applied to images here... But as said before it is possible to soften images (Gaussian blur in PS)...
If aliasing or moiré is causing problem it might be possible to take a "safety shot" with aperture closed down to f/16. Here diffraction should soften the captured image minimizing the risk for moiré.

Congrats Ronny! I knew you'd try this camera one day. Don't worry about the possible difference between the normal and the R version. I'm sure it'll be only minor.

Hi gys
Witch 2.5mm and Remote Shutter Connect Cable for Rx1 ?
Don't seems to be the same as for the A7-R ?
Weird .. A7 battery and data cable works in Rx1
but then I have ordered to A7 this remote trigger
Ups, I only know the RX1 and as far as I know the mechnical cable release is the only option for that camera. Seems like the RX1R has some other solutions?

I dont now.. but the cable is not working on Rx1R
but works on the A7 .. is just like the end of the connector is too long .. will not click in rx1r
but it might not work .. can surely be specified incorrectly on Amazon
Damn ...I have it on A7 when
