Only had one for a couple of days, but I'll try to answer your questions.
Is the 35 to restrictive at times, or are you pretty happy with the FL for what you shoot?
This does tend to be personal. I really like the 35mm FL, the 35 Summilux is on my M9 most of the time, but thats me.
Is the macro mode pretty good?
You mean good in terms of IQ? The IQ appears to be quite good at the close focus distance, pictures are sharp. I don't really see AF speed impaired. In terms of usage the switch location is unfortunate and I can see people accidentally engaging it. Its also stuff to engage, I suspect thats because the switch actually seems to move the optics out (kind of like a built-in extension tube).
Happy with the IQ and iso? I see different images and not really sold on it yet, but I know could be many factors
Thanks! Phil
Yes, IQ wise I am very pleased. The sensor appears to be superb, great dynamic range and the noise levels up to about ISO 6400 appear well controlled (shooting RAW and examining in LR). I wouldn't hesitate to shoot up to 6400, the highest ISO of 25600 is somewhat terrible. The biggest IQ surprise for me is the optics, they are excellent. Bokeh is pleasing, images are sharp. When stopped down resolution is great across the entire frame. I wouldn't hesitate to use this for landscape work which end up as big prints. The axial CA is there wide open but clears up by about f/4. I need to keep doing some more shooting (which I'll get a chance in the coming weeks) but things look very promising so far.

I believe this is called a "honey burst", which is a variant of sunburst. It's brand new but manufactured in 2011; a Les Paul Standard from Gibson. It plays and sounds wonderfully and I think it has been hanging in the store because of the not so perfect match between the two halves of the split maple top.
Edit: At this distance, I can see no "3D" at all from the Sonnar. It seems to work better at medium long distances (~2-5 meters). None the less, sharpness is great as well as colors. Mind you, this was shot under ~2500K lighting in my livingroom....Show more →
Cool new guitar, Makten. That finish is called "heritage cherry sunburst."

Appreciate the info, def. starting to see the advantages now, now I am gonna sell one of my 5D's

The barrel distortion of the Sonnar is pretty noticeable, but nothing that LR4.3 can't fix with the click of a checkbox. Hence, no issue.
The detail resolved by the sensor is just beautiful. I find it astonishing to see this type of resolution from such a small package, I am really impressed. 100% crop following at f/8.
A few more shots from our Bal Harbour visit today.
The files are, as stated previously, very malleable in post, details recover from shadows really well. Example, this shot straight in the sun at f/11 with shadows/blacks cranked to +100.
After the initial criticism on FM I was hesitant to keep it, but real life application paints a much different picture for me. Definitely a keeper, this much performance in such a small, portable package is worth the high price tag for me. Now I am looking to get the EVF and lens hood.
My only gripe for now is that I keep on hitting the red video recording button by accident when carrying the camera with its strap wrapped around my wrist. Perhaps I can reassign that button. RTFM. edit: Assigned MOVIE button to "Movie Mode Only" and now accidental pressing of the button doesn't initiate video recording. Phew.

My skull shot shows plenty of 3-d and it was a short distance away.
The Sonnar can render 3-d at close distances to mid distances.
p.14 #6 · Sony RX1, RX1R, RX1R II and RX1R III Image Thread
It's all subjective I think but to me the skull shot is not 3d.
I was attempting to look for 3d in a crappy back yard on an overcast day while sick. This is the best I could do. Ugh renovation.
Neither of which are convincingly 3d. However a lot goes into that look especially in lighting.....and I'm still trying to find the right sharpening workflow.
p.14 #7 · Sony RX1, RX1R, RX1R II and RX1R III Image Thread
The whole skull is not in enough focus for it all to be 3-d but the edges of the eye sockets which the shallow DOF of f2 rendered with some 3-d imho. If I had stopped down. a little more I could have gotten the whole skull to have some 3-d.
I don 't see any 3-d in your shots here.
Anyway, enough about 3-d as I don't want to turn this thread into another what is 3-d thread.

VladiD's cityscape sunset malleability is just one example of what us Sony sensored Pentax K5 owners have enjoyed for awhile. Sony/Nex owners would know this too.......Seasons greetings everybody, today here in Adelaide we simmered with a gorgeous 40ish C (104f). Santa will be wearing shorts.

Wayne, Happy End of the World! Very nice shots. Looks tack sharp, especially the outdoor vase shot. The EVF is sold out everywhere
Vladi, congrats on your RX1. Nice bokeh balls on the first set! The second set is excellent. Really like the shots with the "Exit" sign and balls. I agree with you, I'm also rethinking the need for a new Leica M but I'm definitely keeping my M9. I just love the rangefinder shooting experience.

35FL is perfect for me, I can shoot with just a 35FL until the Mayans come home
Macro is fun and manual focus with peaking really helps with pinpoint focusing accuracy.
I'm really happy with my RX1 so far. Its the full frame thing right? The perspective "feels" right for me and this camera is probably the digital equivalent for a Contax T3 and the other 35mm film compact cameras of the past, ie, an excellent P&S with good IQ (and quite useable video) to complement our other 35mm full frame camera system. The dynamic range and high ISO are excellent on this camera, a big bonus.

I don't like photographing indoors, but I might make an exeption to capture my brand new Gibson Les Paul that I bought yesterday on pure impulse. It was so freaking good that I just couldn't go home without it.
Congrats on your Les Paul. Lovely! Beautiful sounding guitar. I had an older LP Standard, sold it and still regretting now.
I though my ipad touchpad was pretty big until I saw this on the Tesla

Picked up an RX1 yesterday. So far I generally love the handling and image quality, but the AF is... lets just say I've been spoiled by my OM-D. I am really enjoying the camera though, having image quality like this in a compact camera is just surreal. I'm hoping there are some 3rd party grip options at some point, too.

Thanks Joe! Nice shots of the interior of the Tesla. Wow, quite a screen inside, bigger than my 10" Google Nexus pad. I went to Sony store near me and brought my camera with EVF to see if I could get a cover there but they only have one leather one for $250. !
I let the sales girl drool over the EVF which they did not have there yet.
Still need to find a case for this camera that fits with EVF on.
Here are a few landscape shots I took yesterday morning and I processed these RAW shots with LR4.3 and some PS. Thought i would send Samuli and other Nordic folks who are up to their ears in snow, some greens from rainy California.
