WOW great shot! That sure beats staying home taking pics of bugs in the back yard.
most days staying home taking pics of bugs beats would be an improvement for me photographically speaking.
hope everyone is prepared for the jellyfish onslaught/space invaders (viewing this post would be enhanced if you had a few small children behind you going "pew, pew, pew" as i currently do):
sadly shooting through thick aquarium glass at odd angles really introduces a lot of optical aberrations.

Visited a formerly "lunatic asylum" yesterday with a few photography friends. Since the rooms are very small I mostly used my Fuji with the 14mm, but below are a few from RX1. I went for B&W since the colored ones just looked too cheery. We got a little tour and were guided by an older man who used to work there in the 40's. The stories he told about how the patients were treated were horrific - it was more like torture than treatment.

I have to admit that I find the not-so-distant histories of the Nordic countries to be deeply scary. The current, or recent, enlightenment does not go back all that far before you get to some incredibly cruel and repressive history.

So powerful & "disturbing" as it should Helena... Especially the second one. As if the light is mocking the patients with a glimpse of false hope. Goosbumps.

Great and scary stuff Helena!
How come the rooms are kept furnished like this with the old beds and equipment? Has the whole building been abandoned, or are only some rooms kept as some sort of museum? When was it abandoned?

Helena, like those images very much. B/W is definitely the way to show it
sebboh - jellyfish look great, colors are fantastic
I had been primarily using the M9 the last several months over the RX1, but after picking up the RX1 to use again a couple weeks ago I haven't used/wanted to use the M9 anymore. The RX1 + GR + (wishing for 75-90mmm FF fixed lens) is all I want

Ray (hope I got your name right), nice set, especially the last two!
Thank you all very much for the comments! Btw. I want to use this opportunity to say that I'm always very grateful and appreciative of the likes too even though I rarely mention it.
That place really got under my skin, it's terrible. You can't help thinking about all the poor souls that spent most of their lives there. Even worse to consider that this hospital was considered relatively "modern" and was far from the worst.

I don't know all the details, but the hospital was closed in the 80's and left to decay. Then most of the huge building was transformed into a school (Høgskolen i Sør-Trøndelag), but they left part of the hospital as a kind of museum. Some of the items are collected from other asylums. It is rarely open to the public, so I was really glad to get to visit.
