Rats! I had pre's in at Amazon, B&H, and Kurt's (local) So far only B&H came thru with a delivery last Fri. Since I
have a couple of shootin' buddies salivating since seein' mine, I just added a Canon mount to the Amazon order.
I'd bug someone at Samy's to give ya dibs when they get their stock...they did me a solid on the 28 & 85 f1.8G's
when nobody had 'em on hand. Had 'em in NM the very next day...on them GL, Alex!
It's best to check Amzn periodically. Third party sellers appear from time to time with a limited quantity. I was fortunate enough to nail one. The few times I did check, the sellers were reputable and no mark-up (which often happens on the Amzn Marketplace)....this was not Marketplace, however. BTW, 47th is reputable, from what I've been told by a poster on another board who did buy the lens from them via Ebay.
I managed to get a copy of this lens a few days ago and ran it through Reikan Focal Software along with my 35 f1.4G. It matches the Nikon nearly perfectly for sharpness. The sigma is slightly sharper at f1.4, and has a slightly higher maximum sharpness.
I can't see any differences with the Autofocus, both lenses focus very quickly and accurately on my D800. I do want to test the Sigma at an event and work it's tracking focus a bit before I sell by 35 f1.4G, but within a month, the Sigma will have replaced it.
im keeping my Nikon 35 F1.4G, but for anyone who hasn't bought one or is thinking of getting one, this seems like a good alternative for alot cheaper price.
My 35 f1.4G is tack sharp at all apertures, including f1.4, and has never let me down.

If I were offered the choice between Nikon or Sigma's 35/1.4 FREE, I think I would take the Nikon. But I have the Sigma on order and it will be my first non-Nikon lens.

This is what I am trying to figure out, sell my Nikon 35 1.4G for the Sigma or keep the Nikon? I'm leaning towards keeping the Nikon, because I don't see that large a difference between the two. I think if I didn't already own the Nikon I would get the Sigma.

I'd take the Nikon too just for the resale value =D
Still nothing in stock at B+H, Adorama, Amazon and no Nikon-mount on eBay
I just want to know how the AF is compared to te Nikon..I keep hearing reports the Nikon is a tad slow and hit and miss in low light.
That's one of the 2 reasons I sold my 35 f1.4G the other was it wasn't super sharp until f2. This Sigma (A) solved all that for me.
Prior to it's release I made do with the 28 f1.8G for my brewpub music scene captures (often in crap light) Quite sharp wide open and very brisk AF. Still have it.
