Remember this is a FF lens, if you are on APS you can get the 30/1.4 for less money, a lens I am happy with.
This new lens comes with the tune-it-yourself possibility. I am looking forward to hear about experiences. Seems to me that new higher-res cameras can benefit greatly from this, AND that it offers new scope for screwing things up. I am expecting lots of posts.
This could be another hit for Sigma! The Nikon 35mm f/1.4 is $700 more and the Nikon 28mm f/1.8 is too wide for some users, so I think this will slot in between them quite nicely.
I've been waiting/hoping/dreaming for something better/newer than the old Nikon 35/2 AF-D, and cheaper than the Nikon 35/1.4G
Guess I'll have to check it out! I'm very happy with my Sigma 85/1.4, as well as all the other Sigma lenses I've owned. I have great expectations for this new lens as well.
The USB lens adjustment gadget is VERY much welcomed, and I'm anxious to get my hands on one!

I once have the 30 1.4, great for people shots, horrible for landscape (both stop down or wide open for "starry night" kind landscape)
Did Sigma ever release sample pictures taken with this lens yet? I would love to place a preorder on it but I am a little worried about the new branding scheme they are toying with.
Newly developed “USB DOCK” exclusively for new product lines
Based on these new lines, we have developed special software (SIGMA Optimization Pro) that can update the lens firmware and adjust parameters such as focus.
The samples sure look good, heh. It's on SD1 so it won't show FF corners but heh...if it's sharp in the center at 1.4 on the SD1, it'll be sharp on the D800, that's for sure.
This looks like a great lens. I wasn't really impressed with the AF on the NIkon, so I will be interested in seeing how well the Sigma works out. I love my Sigma 85 1.4, so this would be great to pick up at an affordable price!
"Every 35mm F1.4 DG HSM will be checked using Sigma’s own MTF measuring system, “A1,” as will all new lenses under the Global vision categories. This system uses 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors to pick up previously undetectable high-frequency details for quality control inspections."
I found this interesting, I wonder how much quality control they decided to step up. When the Sigma 50 came out, I went through 5 lenses before finding one worth keeping. (then ended up selling it a month later, )
