Some from todays trip to Jamestown & Newport RI. A "picture-perfect" day, as they say. All shot using the 7D, with 10-22mm, 60mm macro, 70-200mm MkII, 400mm f5.6.
Ernie: Thanks for the comments; that area (Newport) is really great for photo ops w.r.t. nature, landscape, old artifacts (dwellings/structures). The surfing was a total surprise for me...but it is not Santa Cruz.
15Bit: Jools, glad you like the little "woods witch"; it (and the rest of the family) does act as the "early warning alert" when I enter into the woodlands. Lucky for them that I have mellowed...

Spent most of the day preping a section of my outdoor "studio" in the woodlands. I'm baiting a pilated woodpecker that I have only two really weak shots of. So, I sprayed its' favorite tree for ants with nearly 2 pounds of sugar dissolved in 3 gallons of water. You might say that the ant population was very happy when I checked back late afternoon. Need to check the trailcam to get a schedule of when it feeds.

An uncommon sight in our area: a Long tail duck (drake) undergoing the spring/summer plumage transformation. (I do not know where his long tail feathers went, perhaps they lose those in spring too.) I think he will get even darker shortly.

Cool shot of the feeding Robin timestop!! Did you MF or manage to get AF to work through that little gap in the branches? I would expect the 7D and 5D3's spot focus to work through that gap but not sure about the regular focus area.
