It's odd... for the 3rd year running, April is the month I make the least photos. This year I barely touched the camera this month. Only one photo published so far and even that one is from 2007 (also April as luck would have it). Maybe some of the pics I made on the trip to Yaroslavl region in early March are going to make it to the print sometime... maybe.
Some from today with a combo of the FD 500mm f4.5L bare, and the FD 400mm f2.8L with a Kenko 1.4X TC. The IQ of the 400 with the TC is good, but not as good as the bare 500...no real surprise there at all. Raw focal length trumps T.C.'s...
Thanks for the kind words...much appreciated! I think I had better start using the EF gear again pretty soon, as my wife might think it is obsolete...
I'm in the planning stages for the trip to Seattle & Anchorage; I will have to be very light with the gear; taking the G10 and T1i w/o the grip and kit lens (18-55). I can rent some stuff in both cities, so that will be in the plans. The problem will be limited free-time & weather (as always), so I go with the flow. I do hope to get some flight-time out of Talkeetna, the gateway to Denali N.P., and maybe out to Seward (Prince Edward Sound).
A quiet day here at the thread...you must be doing your last minute taxes, like me
Anyway, four from today; two from the EF500L, and two from a five (5) dollar Spiratone 150mm f4.5 Macrotel (12 blade iris) mounted to a Canon Auto Bellows. I got that lens and a few more "gems" at my favorite Reno pawn shop back in March.
Other note: My sincere prayers & wishes go out to all the folks affected by the storms moving throughout the country...stay safe and strong.
April showers with incumbent skies and light here, maybe I won't be back until May flowers.... and maybe give the gnarly Nibelung hoard invasion a miss.
Perry, those are very nice florals......which gears did you use ?
Oh boy, it was all over the place
We made quite a few stops along the way, and used a mix of gear

Thanx.....I loved that setup while I still had 500 f/4.5L. Then I sold the lens about 1.5 year ago when the new 500 II was announced, and I am still waiting to get my 500 II delivered.
Edd, that squirrel is just gorgeous. And i can't say enough good stuff about those swans...
Spring is having a second attempt here now, and with the weekend being quite nice we were able to get out and feed the ducks for the first time this year. As per usual our ducks refused to fly, so no ducks in flight (some gulls, but my 5D AF was not quite up to the task, as normal). I did manage what i think might be first for these threads though - a Bird In Underwater Flight (BIUF).
The chap at the back in the first shot was quite adept at sitting to the rear of the pack and when the bread was thrown, ducking underwater and popping up at the front and stealing the prize. Not the easiest shot to get, what with the reflections and the speed he swam, but i got lucky with junior throwing some bread in at just the right angle for the light.
From a few weeks ago. I took a ton of flower pictures yesterday but I haven't worked on them yet. I may need to think about getting a new flower lens. The MFD of my 70-200 f/2.8 wasn't all that restricting on a crop camera, but now I don't feel like I can get close enough.
