Good Evening Peter!,

A couple of "Chip", my resident sunflower seed addict...on the 7D with the 70-200mm MkII, with the 500D 77mm close-up lens attached.

Arbitrage:

Good shooting ...still looks pretty much like winter up there.

Edd, I think "Chip" needs a little exercise; he's getting pear-shaped from the top down!

Good shots of "Chip" Edd. After showing your images to my partner, she is now trying to make me setup some sort of feeder because she wants a "Chip" for herself!!

Good Morning!,

Geoff: Thanks for the comments, and I'm glad your partner enjoyed the photos. I set a feeder just for the chipmunks, as they will just hang-out while I'm shooting off of the main deck. It does keep them away from the main bird feeders, for the most part. While they are calm, they still have an "edge" to what they will and will not do. I can relate to that...

Jerry: Man, can these little guys pack it in! I think I will need to gin-up a small gym, and put them on a fat-boy program .

Looks like a fine day in the making here, so hopefully I will get some shooting in later this morning.

Have a great day folks...

Edit: A few from today...before the rush

Regards,

Edd

Great catch on the white robin - that kind of rarity is extraordinary to see, and even more amazing to capture on - I almost said "film"...

The grass is green enough but many tree branches are still barren, but it's coming......

Here is something I thought looked better in B&W conversion.
1DMkIIN + 70-200 f/2.8 IS MkII @200mm, wide open.

Here is another shot from the same series as above, but post processed using a starker B&W conversion.

Love the B&W gulls Peter.

I saw the gull count rose from 0 to about 30 two days ago out at the Swan Haven where they keep track of these things. I guess some of these guys have made the trip north. They rest and breed just below the Whitehorse dam which is a 5 minute walk along the river from my home.

...now the Avenging Angel, very dramatic Peter.

The raven's name is Fritz. He is on the same pay scale as Peter's chipmunk - peanuts.

John, if you can get Fritzel to do stunt flights for you, that might result in most uncommon images around here.......a crow in flight. The difficulty I've had with crows is that they are not common in my area to start with, they are also quite shy and do not let you approach at all. Furthermore, a chance opportunity presented is seldom taken advantage of because they require almost 2 stops slower exposure than ordinary birds. The only way I can get that is thru ISO increase which on 1DMkIIN just can not be done fast enough.

John, those crow shots are much better than what I've ever got.
