Enough talk already, here are some samples . Some nice pictures in the set. Not sure if it is the lighting or post processing, but from the samples posted, the lens doesn't seem to have the "charisma" of the Distagon 21 or 35/1.4, or perhaps its just me.

Just to be nasty, let's remember that these pics are from the same person (Zeiss US marketing mgr, I believe) who posted less-than-stellar pics with the ZE 35 f:1.4 before it was released. So the lens may have more to offer...

Like the look of the samples, the colors pop. Just wished Flicker would raise the Large version of photos to 1200px on the long end horizontal and 1000px vertical
You can really get a sense of the lack of distortion in this photo...

Little distortion too, that's amazing
The distortion is definitely good for such a wide lens, but from this photo it looks only marginally better than the other Distagons (about 2%, by my guess). The peak distortion may have been pushed out closer to the corners, for less of a moustache effect.
This is excellent for a 15 mm lens, certainly.
I'm dying to see the lens layout. Is there a large aspherical element at or near the front? From the relatively low distortion I have to assume so! But that would be new for the Z-series lenses.

Horrific 95 mm lens cap included for $2900.
That's a pretty expensive lens cap! Or did you mean for the set?
I have a prediction too: the lens cap will be very hard to get off, but when you finally do get it off, there is a good chance it will slip from your fingers and fall into a stream.

Zeiss lens caps falling into streams... sounds pretty good to me

This thing definitely looks like a flagship lens (price to match). It looks like they placed great emphasis on reducing CA which is sort of the achilles heel of the Canon 14MKII. Also the lens cap is comically huge but you gotta love the large Zeiss logo right in the middle
