Newegg is good for many things, but for items that are not computer related components, or inexpensive electronics, I would stay away from them. B&H, Adorama, Amazon and few others would be my first choice.
Why does this post stay at the top of the list?...it is hardly the most important topic on here but it seems to take precedence over more recent posts.....

I've had zero problems with them. They accept returns/exchanges and if you call them and explain they will waive the restock. I love them since I dont have to pay tax on my order.

Why? Newegg can't get a shipment, box one up, label it, and then hand it off to UPS as good as B&H can? Newegg can't process a return or handle an exchange?
not sure who is going to ship mine first... I have a preorder for Amazon(Prime member/overnight delivery) and one for adorama(2 day delivery).... Both were ordered around 545am March 2nd...

Are you serious?
If you have ordered from newegg before you will notice that they are not really great at packaging, you will not find a receipt in the box. That said they have always had items in stock and delivered promtly. I just don't trust their packaging and I don't know what you would have to go thru if you needed a return.
I've just preordered a 5d3 with a battery grip from Calumet in the UK.
I've been trying to decide 5d3 vs. 1dx but I realised that the 5d3 does all I need and I doubt I'd use the extra features of the 1dx. So it would be £2000 mostly wasted.

Although Amazon and B&H (lately) have not been good on packaging as in the past. If there is a problem with your order, I've found they take care of it. Newegg, not so much. For an order of $3500, I would be cautious on where I placed the order. If $3500 is like $350 for you, then no problem, order from whoever has the item in stock.

Newegg takes care of things. All anyone has to do is read their reviews. Personally I've not liked dealing with the NYC attitude that I've run into with B&H on the phone in the past and I'll never send something to them for repair again. I've bought 10's of thousands of $$$ from B&H and will continue to use them.
However, Newegg is one of the best companies that I've ever dealt with.

my experience is very different than yours..i've ordered many lenses/cameras/computer equipment from them and always great packaging...plus the benefit i have is ordering it and going to pick it up locally from the warehouse.
I think B&H has gone out of their way to change their customer service attitudes from what I have seen lately. I agree in the past you could run into a gruff person or two but I have noticed recently they are very polite and accomodating. I have the unmost confidence in them. I also have been happy with new egg except for their packaging. Their prices and delivery have been top notch but I feel a bit more disconnected to them than B&H. Just my personal opionion. It is nice to have a number of quality resellers out there to choose from.
I am still on the fence. Speaking with B&H they indicated they would fulfill all preorders when the camera is released. I just want to see how much improvement the iso is in raw files. For some reason I cannot open any of the raw files that are going around?
I ordered from Amazon with next day Prime shipping for $4. If the 5DIII is not at least 1/2 stop better in RAW + if the AF or AE is quirky - it goes back. I expect Canon do it right. I expect the AF to be considerably better than 7D which in my opinion is mediocre for an action camera.
I just got a call from the Camera Store today. The good news - the price has dropped by around $4
The bad news, Canon definitely won't be including the 5DIII on CPS pricing.
The GREAT news was that if you put down a full deposit, you will probably get delivery on March 23. 20% deposit will be on the 2nd tier delivery and no deposit will be after the first two tier deliveries are completed.
I have a trip I'm leaving for on the 24th, so I am pretty anxious about getting this on the 23rd. Orders in with B&H, Adorama, and Amazon, but nobody is providing any updated information on estimated release date. Here's hoping it comes in in time. I have alternate plans if not, but having the 5D III would certainly be nice.
Also, FWIW, B&H told me several hundred people were ahead of me in line, and I ordered at 1:10 AM Eastern on the 2nd.
Amazon gave me an update on the shipment, on the 5d3 kit ordered on 3/2 morning. Estimate shipped date 4/5-4/9/12. Thinking of cancelling the order now as having a trip to Japan on the 6th. No point to have the camera sit at the office for a month.
CR is saying initial preorders from B&H, Adorama, and Amazon would be filled. These big retailers will have them by 3/22. Amazon is showing 3/31 for the 5DIII+24-105 kit. So my guess is that the body alone should also be available by then.
The BIG question is what is considered an early preorder?
I need at least a month to figure out all of the features before my trip to India in early June.

Weird. The kit I ordered from Amazon says it will be delivered 4/3. I ordered with next-day delivery on 3/10, so pretty late..
