I never thought I'd be an early adopter on anything...let everyone else determine the bugs so I can decide if I can live with them. But. BUT. I've been waiting since getting the original 5D in 2006 and am SO TEMPTED.

Good - The rumors can now be laid to rest and we can actually talk about the facts.
Wishful thinking my friend. Gear lust is a never ending indulgence.
Great to see the specs of the new camera. I love the balance that canon has struck, but given its current price point and my exhaustion of funds on the new tele, this guy is going to have to wait a while. Tempting, but I will have to wait until the price drops below $2.5k

It wont be "the same", not without the dedicated DIGIC 4 for AF + 100,000 RGB Metering.
I think it will still be the best non-1d series AF Canon has but it won't be the same.
I see it as a 5d2n...What the 5d2 should have been but they decide to lower peoples expectations so when they came out with the 5d3 years later people would be amazed and happy that Canon is finally "listening". It's not listening when they skillfully planted the words in our mouths. Clever Canon, clever.
I'll pass at this price. Maybe in a year or so for non-work related things.
If they come out with the MP monster I'll go for that through FM as I actually need that for studio work.

Good point however the AF subsystem, the guts, as well as the metering, all sound vastly improved. I'll admit I was hoping for a surprise in MP count but for day to day shooting this sounds pretty darn good

I agree. For day to day its fine. I still lust for one as my personal camera over the 5d2.
For the studio all this extra stuff is completely useless when shooting at ISO 100 all the time.
Specs look great. IQ probably too. I wonder if it's overall responsiveness is faster than the 5D(2)'s. In that case, count me in. If not, then I am not so sure...
