As do I, but unfortunately I don't think that's in the cards:
1DX = 18MP * 14fps = 252 MP/s. That's with two Digic5. Assuming the 5D3 or whatever it is has one of them, at 36MP that would come down to 3.5fps, which is not something to write home about.
If the 5D3 is indeed 24mp or thereabouts, for some of my jobs I would seriously have to cheat on Canon and rent the D800 with a 14-24 or there like...
My hopes are fading, but not because of the processing speed. We did get dual Digic in the 7D.
With 6 fps and a better AF, it will be enough of an upgrade for a large customer base, and Canon will want to save the resolution upgrade for the 2015 model, or an entirely different camera. Getting it all now seems just too good to be true.
Canon's new patent (just released, filed in 2010) for Back-Illuminated FF and APS-C sensors is a good sign that they are working on higher resolution sensors, and that those will not suffer in efficiency compared to lower resolution sensors.

I would not be too sure about that Whayne. Think about the spread Canon needs in it's portfolio. A 5Dx should be further away from the 1Dx to justify the difference in cost and performance. I bet it will have a 7d like AF system, which is better than the current 5DmkII AF, but worse (and more cost effective!) than that of the 1D serie models.

I forgot the smiley Peter. It's but a pipe dream for sure. If it did happen it would be in the mythical 3D.
Can't believe I found this before any of you guys, lol.. I was most excited to see that 200-400, I shoot motorsports and it's pretty much made for that. Built-in 1.4x extender?? YES PLEASE.

Congratulations, Will!
I guess Canon will make you a special price to all that new gear as an compliment you started the marketing hype ...
But yes! Thank you from me. You made me a great day. Now I do not have to think about how getting the money to purchase the 1D X. My beloved 5D MK II getīs adult!

Looks to me like he's really zoomed in on the bird's head.
Ya think? I have a reliable source that says the bird was a mile away and with the new lens with converter engaged the sensor we can finally get a huge number of "pixels per guineafowl."
In the image you can see the white rectangle representing the the image and the smaller one inside it showing what part it is currently zoomed in to display. Below that frame it seems to have the icon of a control wheel next to one of the magnifying glass ( to indicate that the zoom is controlled by that once you press the blue button to the left of the LCD (or is it an OLED? )
Maybe they will stick the 45 point system in the 5 series? It's probably too close to the 1Dx, but they will have that fully developed system lying around. I keep hoping they put it in the 7D MKII and give 18 'better' mpx.... 7D with f8 autofocusing would be interesting.
This new way to zoom in playback mode is a huge improvement IMHO. My guess is that this will have 18mp from 1Dx with 7D's autofocus (19pts) hence the inclusion of the M-Fn button. FPS maybe around 5-6. Looks good but I just purchased a 5DmkII that will arrive tomorrow to complement my current 7D. Oh well, this camera won't be readily available for some time anyways and by then I can just upgrade again.
I have to say some of the predictions regarding the mystery body have me kept me entertained the past 24 hours! 3D, 5DX etc.
All I'll say is I'll put good money on it being a 5D mkIII just by the fact it has no pop-up flash and the pentaprism looks like it's big enough for full frame. As for it's internals, I won't speculate. Us amateurs rarely get that right!
I think Canon did a brilliant job of "discreetly" unveiling the arrival of the 5D III or 5DX or 3D. Look at the internet buzz/interest it had generated, which I am sure was quite intentional. I hope they use the same guy for all future leaks.

21 to 24mp wouldn't make considerable difference in resolution. I'm hoping for 36MP.
Speculations apart, I found it entertaining how we were introduced to the new Canon body.
I hope the Canon employee does not get in trouble...
