Akul...great shots with the CY 50,,,wide open even!! I just got mine today, and plan to take it to work with me tomorrow and compare it against teh Rokkor 58 1.2 I picked up 2 weeks ago. I have to admit, I'm really diggin' the Rokkor right now! Can't hold its own at 1.2 against my 50L, but at f2 and smaller...well, it's dead sharp. Curious to see how the CY50 holds up??!!
Do you have more shots with the CY50?
Thanks,
Gregg
Greggf - Thank you. I realized that one picture i put /f1.4 was probably shot at around f4. I just tried to specify the lense was 50 1.4 and not 1.7 The shot with truck on the righ, fence on the left was probably at 1.4
I don't shoot canon, so I can't compare, but compare to Nikon 50 AFD, CY50 is a much better lens. However, I also noticed CY50 has more depth of field at 1.4 compare to AFD 50. Will post some more.
Akul...great photos with the C/Y 50. I took mine to work today and did a little comparo between the C/Y, my 50L, and my Rokkor 58 1.2....will post some shots shortly, but overall, I like what the lens is, but I think I'm a little underwhelmed with initial photos! I have an excellent copy of the 50L...and I have been using the Rokkor a lot, so I the C/Y has a lot to compete with now....
Here is a gallery taken with the Rokkor on picasaweb...please feel free to browse. https://picasaweb.google.com/112876940890442133557/Yannis4thBDay?authuser=0&feat=directlink
Greggf - Thank you. And thank you for the link. Very nice photos. One thing I have not used CY50 for too much is portraits. Close distance, wide aperture portrait may not be CY50's strength against its competition. In my case, competitor is not too strong. My copy of Nikkor AFD50 has strong CA and haze in wider aperture, although CY has some, comparatively speaking it is less.
I still can't. I see "This image is copyrighted by the owner". Since you are the owner, maybe you see something different. I will try again when I get home.
I usually try to stop down a little, because the 100 MP, as great as it is, has some artifacts wide open. I guesstimate, shoot a test shot or two, and examine them carefully for look, adjust, and shoot the sequence.
carsten - really loving the arch shot. One of those shot that makes me appreciate the graffiti adding so much more to the shot of the space.
Greg - Very nice shots. Are they shot around f4? Very clean and contrasty. #3 seems to draw me in every time I look at it. It shows quite a bit of detail. Your other lenses must be really good, or did you find wide aperture to be problematic ?
Hey Akul....thanks for looking, again!! I think those shots were closer to 5.6 or even f8, except the second, which I think was f2. Sorry they are all close ups, but I was out throwing the ball for the dog at the corner park, and this is what was available! I do like the lens, but I think in the long run, I will give it up, along with my 50L, and keep the Rokkor. Since I have my ZE 35 1.4, I find the 50's too close, whereas the Rokkor is just a tad diff, and longer. The ZE rarely leaves my camera these days!!
Thanks again for looking....and Carsten...always looking for new ways to shoot, and your pants really intrigue me! They are, for lack of a better word, quite awesome!!
Thanks,
Gregg
