Gregg, I shoot mostly hand-held (paying attention to good form) and stitch as 16-bit TIFFs with CS4, if there are less than about 8 shots, and as JPGs with Autopano Pro if there are more. CS4 fails for large numbers of shots, even if I do them as JPGs.
This building belongs to the Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, a building designed by Albert Speer, Hitler's architect. It is very heavy and imposing, but they chose a very beautiful type of sandstone, highly unusual for Berlin. If only Speer hadn't been involved with Hitler, we might have had more from him. Interesting, if controversial.
Pretty sharp detail in that bush as a nice offset to the BG. Did you really need 18 images to get that tho? At even twice the posted image size I guess the 100MP only needs one shot for the identical effect. No? Or is this because you wanted a wider angle from the same perspective?
I would have to test it, but I am not sure. I would have had to back up quite a bit, which would have made it difficult to get the same feeling of closeness to the bush, and might even have made the shot borderline impossible. Somewhere behind me there is a ledge from the grass down to the sidewalk.
Still, this lens does much better stopped down a little, if there are high-contrast edges, such as the roof edges. Somewhere off to the right the sun was going down, giving the deep blue shadows.
Yes, it has CA around high contrast edges. Quite noticeable. Stopped down a little, it loses that, but loses the thin DoF which makes its look so awesome. A little stitching gets it back
Are you going to post some 100/2.8 shots here? I would love to see what it can do...
Smridevan...thank you. So far #3 is the best , but I really like 1 myself!
Carsten...so paying attention to good form; Your recent shot...you set your focus to where you want, then just move the camera around to get the various shots(18..wow!)
I'm going to have to give it a try!!
