I just picked up one of the 27A's on fleabay as well. $75.00 for what looks to be excellent condition including box, manual, and case for both the lens and the hood. Can't wait for it to get here so I can try it out and compare it to my Contax/Zeis 35-70.
Bif - love that shot with the red bridge and the forest behind. What a great contrast of both the colors (red vs green) and the shapes (geometric vs natural).
mcbroomf - The chinese dragon/tiger is great as well. Love the reflection of the lights on the wet sidewalk.
Too hot and humid in Japan to shoot anything properly. After 20 minutes outside I start panting like a dog and need to get into an ice filled bath tub, so, sorry for the "half-arsed" attempts...
Forgot to add a note: I got a Roxsen Adaptall-EOS adaptor from eBay earlier and would like to warn - the adaptor does not have any locking mechanism on the lens side and will be very easy to twist loose. Yesterday, the lens was very close to falling off on few occasions.
So, avoid it!
I think I will be using Tamron's native Nikon adaptor with Nikkor-EOS adaptor.

The locking mechanism on the adapter should just be a slot in one of the bayonet lugs (same mechanism as the body-lock for Contax/Yashica lenses). Most likely it's a bit out of spec and the locking lever on the lens is not slipping in. You may be able to resolve that with judicious application of a file. I've had the same issue with Contax mounts on the camera side and that was the fix.

Mawz: indeed. The grove is missing. I thought I was connecting the adaptor the wrong way, and spend half a day today playing around with it.
Since I have nothing to lose, I will file around, but the chances are that my filing will be uneven. The Adaptall-Nikkor adaptor locks perfectly - it got 2 groves into which locks on the lens are gripping and locking.
I will see if I find any other unchipped adaptall adaptors on ebay today...
I've found that while a 500/8 reflex isn't going to be the sharpest optic in the world, for practical landscape photography the atmosphere is typically more limiting anyway. This shot was taken in near optimal conditions and yet the lens still wasn't the limiting factor - physics sucks...
to those with the tamron 17mm adaptall, i picked one up not too long ago so havent test it much but just noticed that no matter what aperture i set it up, it seems to be shooting wide open all the time. any ideas why? usually with other MF lens, i can se ethe viewfinder getting darker as i stop down but not the case with this lens. this one has the olympus mount on it and im using big_is OM to EOS adapter
Sounds like your adapter is missing the arm to control the aperture lever. That or the adaptal mount isn't working correctly, or maybe the adapter is turning all the way onto the adaptall mount.
