Thanks Doug and good luck tonight! I may give it another look, but yeah, the moon was quite bright last night.

Nice shot, George.
Correct - however, every night as it rises, I think its "fading" will be accentuated by the waxing moon. I got some dusk images last night then waited for the sky to darken a bit. Alas! All I got were images more washed out by the moon. i"ll go out again tonight (our last clear night for some time to come). The moon will rise later, but be a bit brighter. I may post the best of last night/tonight. I was using my 105 f2.5 and 55 mm f2.8 Micro on my Df

Serge, medication requires that I go very easy on Guinness or any other adult bevvie. My favorite soft drink is not available here either, so I'm relegated to tea and water, no complaints though.
Today I went to Slieve League Cliffs. Walked up from the parking lot to where the hiking trail to the very top starts. I sooooo wanted to go all the way up, but that logical voice kicked in...
Tech bugs continue, the z7ii decided it didn't like the batteries today and refused to operate with them, so I took the zfc up the hill with me. the Df battery died on the flight and can't be charged via usb cables that I have so.... waiting on a charger.

Laura, it has got to get much better for you. I have booked apartments without an elevator and it is not fun lugging the luggage up and down several flloors of stairs. I travel light but my better half, not so much.
Relax and enjoy the beautiful country. A few pints of Guinness seems to be called for.
Shots from first day in Donegal, when it was sunny. Today's forecast to be 70% chance of rain. My plans were to visit Donegal Castle and to take a boat trip. WeBeeSee on those.

From the Diamond in Donegal Town
Great to see that the Z7ii is playing well with the batteries again. The Dom's doors are something else.

Sonny McSwine. Cool name that.
Might be just me but Laura seems to have every lens Nikon ever made besides Rafael's exotic fisheyes and specialised lenses? Quite the collection of Nikon bodies too.
An actual bridge that was for sale. This old crumbling earth filled arch structure was offered for sale to the public. As part of the auction criteria, the successful bidder was required to submit a feasible plan to retain and maintain or remove and clear the bridge structure and its fallen remnants, including appropriate commercial liability insurance. No bidders met all the conditions.

Possibly the final year for this shot.

Sad to say but that bridge is going to be coming down. It's too much to attempt to restore then maintain it.
State neglected it far too long.

well, they sent the wrong charger for the Df. Time to move on tomorrow from Donegal Town, too, come tomorrow. Heading down the street to the castle shortly. One thing I've noticed here is public transportation. Buses run frequently and are well used. Doesn't seem like they're suffering from the US mentality of cutting service so much that nobody finds it useful.
Few shots from the start of the hike up Sleive League
We'll be seeing on the Z7ii playing nice again. Those shots were before it said a dirty word to me, and I to it. Wouldn't take pictures at Slieve League where I wanted wide. Making the best of it right now with NX Studio while I'm on the road. Z7ii was ok last night in the room, but I'm not trusting it.

Definitely not, Siphewe. I don't have those deep pockets of Rafael. Just some of the more popular ones.

nicely done; if not mistaken was this taken near the berkeley part of the bay? looked a bit familiar to my eye
Actually, I live across the Bay in Marin and this tidal pool is almost due west of San Quentin. There is a frontage road adjacent to 101 with benches for folks who want to watch the unending play of shore birds... looking east toward the prison and East Bay hills. It is certainly not the kind of place most photographers would seek out but I was making a stop at the nearby Trader Joe's and I thought I should at least use the 400 once. Glad you enjoyed it.
Does everybody remember Nikki... you know the lens Ben loaned to all of us? I know that's a joke. Nikki is legendary and has prompted members to send other lenses around the world. So what does that have to do with anything today? Well, I'll tell you.
A friend of mine has written a book that is now with the publisher. They asked him for a "recent" photo that will appears on the back of the book. He sent copies of two photos I'd taken of him... one of HUNDREDS. (He is director of the Living/Dying Project and I took photos that could be used on flyers and newsletters.) I recalled the photos but not when either was taken. I browsed processed images and eventually found the dates when they were taken. They are hardly recent. One was taken April 1, 2009, a year before I began playing with Nikon gear. The other was taken on March 28, 2013. Those original photos are stored on a 2 TB bare drive, one of six salvaged from a G5 and two old firewire drives. I have no Canon photos on an active drive and no Nikon photos earlier than 2016.
When I opened the Nikon photos in Nikon NX Studio I realized all the photos taken on that day were taken with an 85 f/1.8 H.C. NIKKI! So I processed the portrait but I had to tease him with another photo. Here are both... you'll get a sense of what was happening that evening.

I am enjoying your Irish adventure but sorry to hear of your Z7ii camera issues.
What exactly is the problem? Might be worth a hard 'reset' to factory settings.
Just outside the town walls lies one of the many graveyards that also got buried under the ash.
This is Necropoli Di P.Nocera on the south easter flank.
Love that collection Colin. They are very reminiscent of photos I took in Turkey at Ephesus, another ancient site... though Greek rather than Roman. You're on quite a wonderful adventure. No doubt, it is when traveling that taking photos becomes inspiring. That humble lens is definitely up to the task. Thanks for sharing these.
