You're a spider whisperer, Leighton. How do you manage to get so close to a spiderweb without spooking it? I can never, and I'm not scared of spiders.
Thanks. I moved very slowly and I think it was concerned more with whatever was in her web than me.
glad everyone appears to be unscathed from Helene.
Friday, I actually had my day off from work. I relaxed around the house, putting off doing laundry, just sitting idly about. In the afternoon, the winds started picking up, and it began to rain. Roughly about 4:15pm, the lights went out. Gave it about an hour, and realized they weren't coming back on any time soon.
What with my back issues affecting my balance, and seven cats zipping around my legs, I decided that for safety's sake, I needed to find some place to go. I wound up spending two nights in a hotel nearby. which is in an area recently redeveloped extensively, so I figured the power wouldn't go out there. Last night, just before midnight, the lights in the hotel room flickered.
Have seen dew covered webs, but not the size of the maker you've captured here. Is that 2 inches across!

Happy to hear the precautions you are taking Laura! Sorry about the power, looks like things are getting better according to the outage map.
I switched to the 50mm HC for the 25 minute trek up the hill from the port to Capri Town which sits up in the hills on a shoulder between two mountains. Capri is beautifully manicured. The narrow path has a lot of steps and stunning views.
Thanks Ray, no just a single shot. I did take plenty of frames intending to focus stack for pretty much all the shots on my trip but my laptop struggles with the gfx file sizes as it is so I make do with single frames for now.

That's a great intimate view into the slot, Andy. Is that focused stacked, the sharpness looks pretty good throughout the frame.

Interesting murals! Are they for long term or to celebrate some event?
I'm going to slip in quietly and post a couple of photos... small photos judging by what I'm seeing posted now. A friend suggested I adjust the diopter on my Df and suddenly taking photos became enjoyable again. Who knows... I might take a few more. (Lovely to see everyone having so much fun using these venerable lenses.)
(I post everything 1600 px wide these days as I presume everyone has 4k monitors etc.)
While I'm here, here's a shot from Mount Cook NP, this time of Tasman Lake in the moonlight ! Pretty chilly I have to say. Same night as the aurora shot I posted previously.

Curtiiiiiiiiiis! So nice of you to visit. A rose to welcome you back
Amazing what a turn of a little knob like the diopter can do for vision..
