Gotta love that lens for sure. Even more when it's used like this. Super shots - I like the crops, but I dont know the sport. I crop hurling like that, and I guess it's close as sports go (Full contact golf).
Hi Paul,
Nice shots and great colors. I had the opportunity to shoot some high school lacrosse earlier this year with a D3/600 AFS II combo. It takes some getting used to but I really liked the ability to get tight and capture some facial expressions as you have done hear. My favorite place to shoot from was the end corner to catch the players breaking up field coming right straight into your face. A little toug to follow the action around the net from the corner as you get a lot of cut off legs and sticks. Thanks for posting.
Jack
Paul...love'em all and I agree with Dennis. I absolutely love how the faces in these helmets are just so tack sharp. Continue to have fun with it and keep posting these amazing shots.
If I was covering LAX for editorial purposes, I would agree that looser is the way to go, but in these tournaments, we are competing with disgusting sidelines and parents with better and better equipment. For youth sports, there is a need to get something they are not getting and we are forced to constantly push ourselves as photographers to do better, achieve more, and produce something visually different.

Awesome pics , Paul!
I agree with staying ahead of the competition ( the parents) who have money for gear. Is it really that bad in your part of the country? Very few folks pop-up with a 300+mm 2.8 lens (they will have a 75-300 5.6) at games in the South.
Beautiful Paul - I can't believe that the young man in #1 has a cavity in his incisor . . . or maybe it's just a shadow . . that 600 is obviously in good hands. Thanks for showing us the way . . .

I certainly understand and if these are selling well(which I imagine they are), then thats all that matters, for me most of my shooting is duel purpose in that its used for editorial and parent sales

I totally agree. You gotta give them something they can't get. I read critiques on here all day long, but when it comes down to it, parent's don't get that nit picky. Like I have said before, parent's are lucky to have you Paul. I am sure you have spoiled them!
Keep filling those frames Paul! They all look really good to me...the background blur and color are so nice in #1 and the last, perfect for sport portraiture....looks like you got a very good sample of the 600mm....
