I like the uniqueness of this collection. Really very nice! I'm not a fan of the extreme tilt of granny. #1 is fantastic! #10 is awesome - love the selective focus and lighting effects. #11 makes me laugh with that exit sign above the dense crowd. #19 is a cool composition.

That's all from a 580 off-camera? Good grief - seems like a lot more powerful light than that, though I realize it doesn't need to be.
It does look like your flash may have the optional leaf blower attachment though.
I really :really: like the shots. Very dramatic, almost cinematic lighting.
But the size and placement of the logo let's me down. Instead of negative space ineracting with the beautiful couple there's a billboard of your name taking up all that lovely nothingness. It looks like you're composing with your logo in mind, and to me it takes much of the joy out of grooving on these awesome shots. Is it reasonable to put the logo at the bottom instead of making it a full-blown elemt of the photo?
Cause this is beautiful work. I don't shoot weddings, but I always am inspired by wicked shots like these.
Thank you for the inspiration, King, and the rest of you fellers and ladyfolk.

some pictures are cool, but in most of them it looks overdone. like the main purpose of the shot was use of the flash (strobist going wild) and forgetting that light should improve the scene, not be the only factor. dust is very distracting.
also the color fringes hurts in some shots.
There was a bit of ambient light in there already. Artifical light was from a 430 on top of the 5D. A skyport was taped to the 430. 580II on a tripod with skyport reciever acted as a strobe. For 13 and 14 basically it was bounce to get some fill flash on the subjects with a 580 on a tripod stand from behind. Manual mode, 1/1 at all times I believe. Changed exposure only through the camera. Only had the 35L and 85L on me.
And yeah, I agree about the logo placement as well. Watermark was rushed so I'll fix that for sure. Thanks for the kind words though!
I like them, but I feel like even though they are all great shots, it would still be nice to see some bounced shots as well. I am sure you have them from the wedding though. 4 is just a liiiiitle too blown out for me. looks like a floating vest
Pictures look cool, maybe a touch over strobed at times though as others have mentioned. Personally I quite like the dust look though.
The real thing that would worry me though is all those strobes going off during the ceremony. I usually try to be as ninja as possible during the actual ceremony and with all those strobes people won't have been able to help but see you. I get the feeling the videographer might be a bit pissed off too
I love the dramatic lighting in most of these. The 'dust' effect is cool in some, distracting in others. Still, a very good and vibrant set of photos here...
Watch your shadows on number 26 - the strobe to camera left has shadowed her hair across her face. I remember making that mistake once as well (you only make it once, and you'll always remember).
Heya Andy... the money you paid the assistant at this thing... that would buy you a light stand and change to spare. It's OK to go solo once in a while (good workout too humping all that stuff around)
I like the backlit strobe effect as much as anyone else... but it's kinda like fudge, I can only eat so much. Would've liked to have seen a different lighting style/pattern than the strobist orgy presented here
Many of these look really bright, was it that bright in there or was it the strobes? This was why I never liked strobing my own receptions, it has to be done VERY subtle otherwise you lose the mood of the room.
These look awesome (especially #1). But I wonder if by using strobes the 'feeling' of what it was actually like is lost? Granted, you created some nice shots! But are these photographs how the bride and groom will remember what the ceremony looked like? Felt like?
