the strobe works really well in a lot of instances - like the dancing and celebratory moments.

but it fails big time in others.

#8 for an example looks like granny has a really bright idea.

You know my thoughts! Don't overdo the strobeys, the couple will notice "what's with all the dusty shots".

Awesome work, Andy! Were you using flashes or strobes? How high did you mount them? I really like the effect in 13 and 14! Well done!

Fine effort, not too much of a fan of the dusts from the backlit strobe, as it just made me realise what we actually breath in each day.... eww...

But well done none the less, you captured some great moments.

exactly this. hitting them with super-star lighting during dancing is rocking. but in portraiture it's often too obviously lit. jeremy is a great example of how to do superb strobed work. it looks WOW but it's not obvious that you're lighting the hell out of them.

Thanks Ksmahgrts and Jeremy. I know I went overboard with the strobing. It was so fun though hahaha. Ok next photoshoot I'll cut down with the lights. I really like that dust explosion effect though.

Thanks Jeff, Mosier, Lew, Anthony. I mounted a 580II to a tripod cuz I don't have $$$$ for lightstands. =( Had my assistant who moved the light around during the dances.

I'm liking #18... sorry to pick your shoe shot, but I just like it.

The backlighting is well executed and I like it. I've been breaking out the strobes more and more during receptions, and I understand some of the challenges from trying to "nail" every shot with them. That said: well done.

That's all from a 580 off-camera? Good grief - seems like a lot more powerful light than that, though I realize it doesn't need to be.

It does look like your flash may have the optional leaf blower attachment though.

I'd say some of them work really well (like 1, 14, 21, and 27)... and some not as much (4, 5, 8, 9, etc). I would say mix it up a bit more. Implement strobes into all your shots, but get creative with it, and make it feel more natural. Otherwise, they may all start to look and feel the same. Good work overall.

What a beautiful set! The colors are amazing, and I love some of the interesting perspectives (such as the shot where they're seated and you're focusing on their hands). The size and position of the logo is a bit distracting in a few of them - I like it better when it's smaller and on the bottom edge. Just my opinion.
