p.2 #1 · Strobed an entire ceremony..

Hey, thanks for all the comments.

There was a bit of ambient light in there already. Artifical light was from a 430 on top of the 5D. A skyport was taped to the 430. 580II on a tripod with skyport reciever acted as a strobe. For 13 and 14 basically it was bounce to get some fill flash on the subjects with a 580 on a tripod stand from behind. Manual mode, 1/1 at all times I believe. Changed exposure only through the camera. Only had the 35L and 85L on me.

And yeah, I agree about the logo placement as well. Watermark was rushed so I'll fix that for sure. Thanks for the kind words though!

Andy, Some of them are awesome, but what did you do on these? Did you place a flash behind each of the shots?

I like them, but I feel like even though they are all great shots, it would still be nice to see some bounced shots as well. I am sure you have them from the wedding though. 4 is just a liiiiitle too blown out for me. looks like a floating vest

#1 rocks, you were brave to shoot all day in that style.

Pictures look cool, maybe a touch over strobed at times though as others have mentioned. Personally I quite like the dust look though.

The real thing that would worry me though is all those strobes going off during the ceremony. I usually try to be as ninja as possible during the actual ceremony and with all those strobes people won't have been able to help but see you. I get the feeling the videographer might be a bit pissed off too

Little harsh lighting wise but solid overall. 27 is a standout, nice capture.

Wow!

I love the dramatic lighting in most of these. The 'dust' effect is cool in some, distracting in others. Still, a very good and vibrant set of photos here...

I worry that back lighting will become the next "selective coloring"

Watch your shadows on number 26 - the strobe to camera left has shadowed her hair across her face. I remember making that mistake once as well (you only make it once, and you'll always remember).

Heya Andy... the money you paid the assistant at this thing... that would buy you a light stand and change to spare. It's OK to go solo once in a while (good workout too humping all that stuff around)

I like the backlit strobe effect as much as anyone else... but it's kinda like fudge, I can only eat so much. Would've liked to have seen a different lighting style/pattern than the strobist orgy presented here

Many of these look really bright, was it that bright in there or was it the strobes? This was why I never liked strobing my own receptions, it has to be done VERY subtle otherwise you lose the mood of the room.

These look awesome (especially #1). But I wonder if by using strobes the 'feeling' of what it was actually like is lost? Granted, you created some nice shots! But are these photographs how the bride and groom will remember what the ceremony looked like? Felt like?

i think most people summed up the pics. some look nice, but some are overly artificial.

but as long as the b+g like it, its all that matters. as well as if future b+gs like your style.
