I have a Canon 500mm f/4.5 that is in excellent condition. The only real paint wear is at the front where the hood attaches to the lens. My son has been using the lens (very little I might add) but he is in Afghanistan now and not likely to be back for a couple of years. That brings me to another matter. I can't locate the original leather lens cover and suspect it got packed away with his household goods so the lens will be without the original leather cover.
