p.1 #1 · Lens Calibration Questions

I have a couple of quick questions regarding sending lenses in for calibration. Due to all of the recent chatter about QA/QC, I'm wondering if I should try this for one of my Canon lenses.

What is the procedure for doing so? How much does this typically cost, or can it be covered under Canon warranty?

Also, I'm about to purchase my first Sigma lens. Do they have a similar services for returning lenses for calibration? Thanks!

Hi Cameron,

For calibrating a Canon lens, it's quite simple. Go to Canon's website and look thru it and find "repair and tracking" unde the support area. I sent in my 100-400mm L for recalibration and had it back in 7 days. The cost, well that's another issue. IT cost me $318.

I didn't know they had a service center in IL? I was aware of CA and NJ.

The call is free so why futz with asking people who may not have the current info. Thats why the address and phone number for the people who edon't appreciate the direct help.

Canon also has a SC in Virginia. But at that facility, the eqpt is "overnighted" to NJ. Why they do that who knows.

Yes, I think this would be a BIG help to the OP. With this information he can call Canon service and get answers to his questions directly from them, rather than from others relayed third-hand.
