I bought this lens new from B&H. It is in mint condition with only a few specs of dust in it that I had to look hard to find. It comes with the box and the hood.

Didnt know that, thanks for the info! So im guessing one is just taking a leap when buying a used EF-S lens?
Why? It's not like the lens expires after a certain length of time. If it is in even just good condition it will still last a long time. The pictures show that it is in mint condition and my rep states that I'm trustworthy so where's the leap
sorry greg, believe me i wasnt quesitoning your rep at all, really sorry about that. I was jus curious if i was going to buy an EF-S lens in the future or at any point if there would be a way for me to find out how old the piece was. Thas all, personally i would always want a newer less used version Good luck with your sale and sorry again!
No problem I knew you weren't question me but had the misconception that age matters for lenses. It doesn't of they're cared for.
I wouldn't worry about buying something older (although all EF-s lenses are relatively new). If it works and looks good then that's an indication that it has been well cared for. These Canon lenses, especially the more expensive ones, don't wear out easily. A fully functional lens, that's in good shape, I wouldn't think twice about buying even if it was 15 - 20 years old. As a matter of fact, once I get my main couple of lenses for my Nikon D300 I'm going to be looking to buy a couple of 20-25 year old Nikkor primes for it. Why? Great glass cheap.
Look at my post for a Nikon 180 f/2.8 AIS ED, Great prime, Great Glass and going cheap!
Tony
I'm going to look at a 37-70 2.8 tonight and if I buy it then that will eat up any money I was going to use on a couple of old primes. The reviews on the 35-70 are just too good to pass up.
