It's a rumor: the head plate for 60D or 7D (I think 7D, since xxD series have a basic area on the dial)

Very interesting new placement for the on-off switch. I wonder what the M-Fn button is for.

Looks pretty genuine to me.

Pop-up flash and no back dial since the on/off switch is on the top and without the dial lock position.

Also look how narrow the body is (see how close to the back of the body the film plane mark is).

I'm thinking from a low end camera like a Rebel.

I don't think that's a rebel, the grip shape is Xd or XXd to me. The Reb's don't even have a top LCD.

And there may be a good reason why there isn't an intermediate on/off switch position, the 1D series had it's own dedicated button for the rear dial

With prices falling rapidly and a replacement model possibly around the corner, I'd think this is the worst time to buy one.

If you scale from the size of the hotshoe then the top-plate is only about 115/120mm wide where a 1 series is around 145mm - anyone have the sizes for the xxD series handy?

There is NO WAY it can be a rebel.

No scene mode => prosumer or pro camera
Top LCD => prosumer or pro camera
New M.Fn. button => customizable button
On/Off switch on top, just like xxxD/xxxxD seies => no space due to different LCD screen (larger or articulate)

I'm not sure what you mean, the 1 series has the same switch as the 5D MK II, 20D etc. i.e a 3 position switch with On, Off and dial lock.

Probably just the Menu/Function button. What is that button with the light bulb symbol?

Yup, in the same place it is on the 5D2.
Althou it looks like theyve made an ergonomics groove under the finger dial there... nice!

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the 60D.

I dunno guys, the LCD illuminaction button is in the same place as the 5D2... and look at the proportions of the LCD screen, wider than the 50D,... like the 5D2

Also, look at the modes on the dial, same modes as the 5D2, not the 50D.

$0.02, just sayin.

Any ideas why someone has gone to the trouble of pixellating the yellow sticker on the prism cover?

This does not look like a full-frame camera, unfortunately. My guess is 60D or 7D is not full-frame Definitely not a rebel - no cat mode.

Movement of the on/off switch to this position is very welcome, although I still prefer the Nikon way, since it's under your index finger right after you press the shutter and discover the camera is off.

Actually - just noticed that 50D has cat mode too. This mode dial is identical to the 5D one, so this is almost certainly the 7D, a more professional APS-C camera. Yawn. Could this mean the end of the road for the xxD cameras? Is there a purpose to producing this AND a 60D? Does this mean the line up is now xxxxD, xxxD, xD, 1 series?

This looks to have too small a penta prism housing to be FF IMO. The bump doesn't seem to rise very far above the plane of the top of the body. Maybe wrong though, as I can't recall how the old EOS 5/7 looked.

Just because the Illumination switch has moved, Canon is probably just standardising the layout.

Maybe something which could have identified the person who would be fired for taking and posting the photo?

It's a fake, albeit a good one. If you look carefully, you can see the flaws that give it away. (Maybe fake is too harsh a word, but the fact that it's been photoshop'd makes me suspicious.)

I'm planning to bring out a series of "camera cases", which will essentially be a DSLR casing, into which you can pop your P&S, hook up the buttons, and get immediate street-cred by fooling people into thinking that you have a Mark IV when you actually have a G10.
