#15 is my favourite shot of these incredible moments of action.

I see a lot of bird images, and these are some of the best I action shots have seen for some time! What a pleasure viewing, I wish other posters would post so many [great shots like this series together].

Can you tell us about the EXIF information for some of the shots and the amount of cropping you were required to make. Many of the images look no less than a 50% crop.

Thank you my friend. You're right, they are addictive to shoot. I see many people come out to shoot terns everyday but I don't see those pictures posted anymore.

Martin, I'm so glad that you liked the first and last ones. I had to change to a wide angle lens, that means I would be missing out on many close-up opportunities for the best hour of sunlight. These terns are tough to capture the exact moment you want cause they're so fast and can change direction unpredictably. Thanks for the nice comment, buddy.

EXIF for #15
Device: Nikon D300
Lens: 300mm F/4 D
Focal Length: 500mm
Sensitivity: ISO 200
Exposure Mode: Manual
Metering Mode: Multi-Pattern
Shutter Speed: 1/2500 s
Aperture: F/6.7
Exposure Comp.: -0.3 EV
The image was cropped to about 50% of original (the left and bottom were cut off for balancing).
Most of the other images in this series were cropped by a factor ~ 25%-40%. A few were full frame (no crop).
